Come Saturday December 19th, boxer Tianna Guy will be fighting 42 year old Dominican Republic athlete Liliana Martinez at the Headliner event at the National Velodrome in Couva.

Her opponent was revealed today in an interview with her promoter Nevaun Fabien.

The naming of her challenger ultimately means that the fight against Shantel Adams is seemingly off the cards for 2026.

Guy's Promoter explained why the fight has not happened so far.

00:00Who is the promoter of boxer Tiana Guy? His name is Nivon Fabian.
00:05My background is primarily in marketing. I started in 2015 with the corporate entertainment and sports pieces.
00:14With names like Marshall Sideno, Andrew Lewis in sports.
00:20In entertainment, I worked with Marshall Montano, Bill Van Alves, people of this sort.
00:26And it was just in 2025 when I was working on another project, a sport-related project, when I crossed
00:35parts with Tiana.
00:36Now he's working with Guy. As he says, attempts were made to establish a deal with Boxer Potts and the
00:42team of Chantel Adams.
00:44He says they've put forward boxing stipulations in writing, but Potts has not.
00:49When we started promoting the event again, that's when he reappeared again on social media.
00:55Saying, you know, he won this fight, this fight has to happen, etc.
00:58And we had private conversations after that over the phone.
01:03And he said he would send something in writing and he just never did.
01:07I gave him deadline after deadline.
01:10And he just still never sent anything in writing.
01:13Every time he said he would send something in writing, he just went to social media and said so.
01:18At that point, I assumed that he just wasn't serious about doing business.
01:21Fabian says Potts made unrealistic verbal requests.
01:25His request of these ridiculous type of places that 100,000 TT, 10,000 US, things of that sort, it
01:33just was not sustainable from a business aspect.
01:36Like, it wasn't sustainable to offer that entirely to their team or to any other fighter.
01:47Because these events, they take a lot to put on, right?
01:51So, it just wasn't sustainable in terms of the places that he was requesting.
01:55And the last offer that he made was 3,000 US dollars, as well as the opportunity to brand his
02:03fighter with any sponsor that he desire so he could generate additional revenue from that.
02:09He says the last deadline given to Potts' team was October 12th.
02:14Fabian added there is no chance of Guy fighting Adams now ahead of their headliner event in December.
02:20He outlined who Guy's replacement opponent will be.
02:23The opponent we have chosen for Tiana is a girl by the name of Liliana Martinez, out of Dominican Republic.
02:30And her last fight would have been the beginning of this year on MVP promotions, that's Jake Wall's events.
02:38And she has a record of 25 wins and 24 losses.
02:42So, I would consider that quite a credible fighter.
02:46Especially for a pro debut for Tiana's first pro fight.
02:50Liliana's record of 25 wins and 24 losses is also confirmed by boxing website BoxRec.
02:57Fabian says the 42-year-old opponent, seen here in blue and red, was also selected by Guy and her
03:04coach, Raynal Cox.
03:06And they will be fighting for a belt.
03:08Yes, they will be fighting for the WIPA, that's the Women's International Belt.
03:15That's one of the belts that are available for fighters of Tiana's credibility.
