00:00I'm sure Craig will agree with me.
00:01If you're thinking about betting the Miami Heat laying five and a half points against
00:06the Clippers tonight, you should have your head examined.
00:09There is no way we are trusting the Miami Heat in any way, shape, or form at this point
00:15because they had one job the other night to stop Luka from dropping 45 points on him,
00:23and they would have won the game by 20, and they could not have done that.
00:27So, no, I do not trust this Miami Heat team, even against the Clippers, while I guess they
00:35stayed in L.A., right?
00:36I mean, they took on the Lakers on a night off.
00:39Now they're taking the same old, I, no, don't trust them here.
00:44Just some teams you should not trust this early on in the season, and the Heat have proven
00:49to be exactly that kind of team.
00:51Well, I mean, look, they have had a hard time in the majority of the games trying to figure
00:56out spacing and scoring with those two guys in the frontcourt with Bam and Giannis, and
01:01the other thing, Joe, is that what we were told is that even if they had a hard time on
01:06offense, with those guys clogged in the middle, they'd play great defense at the very least,
01:11and then you saw how many points they gave up to the Lakers the other day.
01:14So, I was shocked to see the Heat five and a half tonight in Los Angeles, but I suppose
01:21the Clippers are just not a good team, and that's probably the reason why, but how many
01:25times do you see an NBA team that's two and six laying more than three points in an NBA
01:31game?
01:31That, to me, is telling you something.
01:34It must mean the Clippers are really bad.
01:36That's the only thing that I could come up with.
01:38They are.
01:39But so what?
01:40I mean, you're talking about a Heat defense, and this is the most disturbing part to me,
01:44Craig, is that Spolster and the Miami Heat, Heat culture has always been about defense
01:49first.
01:50Like, they were going to get their pound of flesh in each and every game.
01:53They may have not been great, but they had no problem winning a 103 to 95 game.
01:59Like, they were going to make you earn it.
02:00The Heat defense right now is giving up 124 points per game.
02:06It is the fourth worst in the NBA.
02:09They are allowing nearly 49% shooting from opponents in a game.
02:15I mean, teams are shooting almost 50%, which is third worst in the NBA.
02:22What happened to the defense?
02:24There is no defense.
02:26The Heat have decided that they are going to have to run with much more athletic, younger
02:31and more, and teams with a lot more depth, and that somehow they're going to out-shoot
02:37teams.
02:37They didn't to the Lakers a couple of nights ago because they couldn't stop the one guy
02:42that could beat them, and they allowed them to beat them.
02:45So there are some serious concerns here right now, and I know it's early, but that's a problem
02:51here because the identity of the Heat, I don't know what they are right now, Greg.
02:55I really don't.
02:56No, and look, I think everyone thought it was going to take some time for them to get things
03:02figured out.
03:02But, you know, at least most of the people who cover the team thought that they'd get
03:07off to a really good start as opposed to a bad start.
03:10And this has been a horrific start for them.
03:12So look, they did have the win in Atlanta.
03:14That's kind of their shining moment so far.
03:16What does it really mean at this point?
03:17Probably not much.
03:20But even a win and not a cover tonight, I think you'd probably feel happy if you're a
03:24Heat fan.
03:24But yeah, I could not be laying points with a team this far under .500 at the start of
03:30the season until they get things figured out.
03:32And Joe, they may look completely different in a month from now.
03:34But from what I've seen at the beginning of the season, does this look like a 50-win team
03:38to you?
03:38It does not to me.
03:40No, it doesn't.
03:41But at least I'll give Giannis this.
03:43He said that, you know, we're not playing hard enough.
03:46He said, we've got to play hard.
03:48We've got to have some pride.
03:49And then we've got to keep one another accountable and trust one another defensively.
03:54And right now, we don't trust one another.
03:56We're not giving the extra effort.
03:59That's a problem.
04:01And, you know, Giannis is the new kid on the block.
04:03Been around the league a while.
04:05But if they ain't following the leader here, and he is, although I don't know, maybe that's
04:12a problem, Craig, that, you know, Bam Adebayo has been there for how long now?
04:16He's the veteran on the team.
04:18Like, if Bam ain't buying in, what are you supposed to do here?
04:23If Giannis comes in and Giannis is going to try to give you 40 minutes a night of, you
04:27know, a lot of effort, but nobody else is following.
04:30This could be a nightmare of a season quickly if they don't turn things around.
04:36Yeah.
04:36And look, they hope Mitchell and some of the other guys that they have start to play better.
04:40Yep.
04:41You know, you have to kind of just say work in progress, because what else can you say
04:46if you're the Heat?
04:48But, Joe, you know, nothing was ever decided seven or eight games into the season.
04:52But if the Heat somehow was like six and 14 after the first 20 games, then you're talking
04:57about something completely different.
04:58But we're not there yet.
05:00No, no, I'll hold out hope.
05:03But at the same time, I'm not throwing my money down on a team like you said, who's laying
05:07nearly six points, who's won two games all year.
05:12Not a good situation there.
