A cross-border terror recruitment nexus targeting Indian youth on social media platforms like Instagram has come to light. Gangs linked to Pakistani terrorist Shahzad Bhatti have been contacting youngsters by offering financial assistance, fake passports, and logistics tasks that lead to target killings and criminal activities. Investigations revealed that operatives lure vulnerable youth on Instagram reels before shifting communications to encrypted platforms like WhatsApp and Signal. The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad arrested three operatives from Lucknow alongside apprehending a juvenile, recovering a foreign pistol and live ammunition. The suspects were operating under instructions from a Pakistani handler identified as Rana Bhai to carry out targeted killings of police and army personnel. Security agencies have intensified scrutiny after cracking down on several operatives involved in executing attacks and targeting police personnel across Punjab.

03:52Arvind Hoja is joining me here in India Today Newsroom.
03:55Arvind, do you think you have pictures, videos, everything is good and enjoying life?
04:01Why will gangsters approach youths and if anyone is thinking about it, is it that easy that you can recruit
04:07youth for criminal activities?
04:08Just gangsters not, but the terrorist in Pakistan is also recruiting on Instagram and India Today has a couple of
04:16people who had 3,000,000 followers.
04:19He was a social media influencer and he was making content, so first of all, he approached him on Instagram
04:26and then he sent him a WhatsApp, a signal and then he sent him a brainwash.
04:31He was making content, so he was making content.
04:37The opposite group was made by Pakistan and when this task was completed, the first agency was arrested.
04:46Also, the other guy who was in Punjab, we had talked about it and he recruited him on Instagram and
04:52he recruited him on Instagram.
04:54What is it for? What do you want to recruit? What do you want to do?
04:56It's different from the brainwash.
04:58Like someone gives money in the mosques, they say they make money in Pakistan, they make money in Pakistan, they
05:02give money in Gurdwara.
05:04The people of Sidhu Musa had a sympathy for him, so they would change the people of Sidhu Musa.
05:08So it's different from the brainwash.
05:10So there is also a lot of research.
05:12There is also a lot of research.
05:13And after doing the brainwash, there is always a lot of money.
05:16We will settle in Nepal, Pakistan and we will settle in Nepal and we will settle in Pakistan and there
05:19are small tasks.
05:20Now, recently, there are 3 such terror attacks that were recruited by social media, which was recruited by the BSF
05:28headquarter.
05:30In Punjab, the target of the police is the most serious concern, which was recruited by social media.
05:46In Punjab, there are many incidents in Punjab. This is a great expose, Arvind. Thank you for tracking down these
05:52youngsters.
05:53So stay cautious. Don't just fall for the lure of money or opportunities on Instagram.
05:57It could be a network or a nexus you really don't want to get involved in.
06:01And we'll keep tracking all the reality checks on this.
