When a boulder blocked geologist Melissa’s car for the second time, she answered with a stone-drilling machine—and a very early-morning wake-up call for her neighbors. In this narrated neighborhood story from California, a driveway dispute escalates after party guests leave cars in the way and the neighbors move a massive rock onto Melissa’s side of the fence.

Rather than struggle to shift it by hand, Melissa uses her geology expertise to break the boulder into rubble, then sweeps the debris toward the neighbors. Her clever, noisy response turns an everyday neighbor conflict into an unexpected revenge story about patience, boundaries, and being underestimated. The incident later catches attention online, where Melissa explains what happened.

00:00Welcome back friends. Today we're diving into a story that reminds us just how
00:04unpredictable life can be when you least expect it. You know, neighbors, they're
00:09supposed to be the people who wave hello, maybe borrow a cup of sugar, or help you
00:14carry in groceries. But what happens when your neighbors turn out to be something
00:19else entirely? Something, well, let's just say unusual. This is a tale of patience,
00:26ingenuity, and one very clever way of dealing with a problem that most of us
00:32might not have seen coming. So grab your coffee, settle in, and let me take you to
00:36California where Melissa learned firsthand that sometimes being
00:41underestimated has its perks. Neighbors can be nightmares. After all, they're just
00:47people and people can be inconsiderate. There are hundreds of articles and
00:52stories online about neighbors from hell, but Melissa's neighbors were
00:56something else. An SC having moved to California from Kansas City, she soon
01:01discovered that her neighbors were jerks. The boulder blocked her driveway
01:06constantly. However, she was about to show them what it means to mess with a
01:11geologist. But before we start, smash the like button and make sure to subscribe if
01:16you haven't and hit that notification bell so that you won't miss any new
01:21stories. There are many things you could do to annoy your neighbors or to upset the
01:26people who live in your neighborhood. Whether it is being rowdy late at night,
01:31being nosy and sticking their nose in where it doesn't belong, most bad neighbors are
01:37simply rude and inconsiderate. But what makes it worse is that if no one takes a
01:42proper stand, these inconsiderate people will simply carry on doing what they do even if
01:48people have spoken to them. Melissa was. No stranger to having problems with
01:54neighbors, but when she moved into her home while studying, she didn't expect any
01:59trouble. It was hard at work on her third degree when first and second
02:03students moved in next door. She was worried about getting new neighbors. However,
02:08everything was fine. That changed, however, when they started to block their
02:13driveway. When finding her new roommates, Melissa had been been very fortunate
02:17indeed. She and her roommates respected each other, including their quirks, schedules,
02:23and personal spaces. This avoided conflicts about noise, chores, sores, or any of the
02:29typical issues with roommates. But this was something they all realized and remarked
02:34upon more than once. All of them knew how lucky they were to have found such respectful and
02:40like-minded people. When a group of undergraduate students moved in next door, Melissa was
02:46understandable wary at first. However, it seemed that she'd been lucky yet again as
02:52everything was fine. What neither she nor her roommates knew was that this was simply the
02:57cow before. The storm. I never really had any issue until about a week and a half
03:03ago, Melissa wrote in a social media post. This is actually the second time this has
03:08happened. It is quite common for undergraduates to host raucous parties
03:12more often than graduate students do. One of the reasons is that grad students
03:17have gotten it out of their systems, have gotten it out of their systems, and are
03:21more used to the freedoms of living alone. In her post, Melissa stated that they've
03:26generally been pretty considerate with noise and keeping, people out of our yard.
03:30Then the boulder appeared one night. However, while our neighbors were having a party,
03:35Melissa noticed that one of her neighbor guests had blocked their driveway with
03:39their car. Melissa, not being unreasonable, went over and politely asked that they
03:45didn't block the driveway. When she got up the next morning, the car was no longer
03:50there. However, in its place was a huge boulder. Melissa worked hard at her
03:56studies, so at the end of the day, she loved nothing more than some peace and
04:00quiet reading a book. Melissa woke up early one morning, got ready to go out, only to
04:06discover that once she reached her car, there was a large boulder near her tire,
04:11blocking her in. However, as it would turn out, this wasn't some random boulder. It was
04:17clear that the neighbors had felt that the rock was in airway, so they decided to move it
04:22instead. However, they had chosen to move the rock to Melissa's side of the fence.
04:28Needless to say, she immediately went to knock on her neighbor's door, but to no avail. While
04:33there had never been a problem with the rock before, today there was. By the look of it,
04:39someone had felt that the rock was in their way, and it had moved it to make their life simpler.
04:45However, they had caused a problem for Melissa. Whoever had moved it didn't seem concerned about
04:53the fact that it was on Melissa's side of the fence, and they had unthinkingly dumped it straight into
04:59Melissa's path. To make it worse, they had all seemed quite happy to accommodate her when she'd asked
05:05them not to block her in the night. Burr not to the fact that she had. Been blocked in and
05:11couldn't pull
05:11out her car was an annoyance. However, it would soon become clear that both the rock and the problem
05:18she was facing were much bigger than they thought. Now, despite her most valiant efforts, Melissa simply
05:25could not remove the rock by herself. She went to the neighbor's house and knocked on the door,
05:30hoping to get some help with this situation. Instead of being greeted by a friendly neighbor,
05:35she was greeted with nothing but silence. Eventually, Melissa got help to put the the rock
05:41back in the proper place. But the whole situation would soon go from careless and inconsiderate to
05:48downright intolerable. Her rude neighbors had a crazy party one night. She had gone over to ask them
05:55to make sure no cars would be blocking her driveway in the morning so she could leave for work. But
06:01when
06:01she woke up and went to her car, there was the boulder. There was the boulder. This time, Melissa knew
06:07that the giant rock had definitely ended up there on purpose. Where he's her rowdy neighbors had moved,
06:14the boulder there to get back at her for simply asking them to make sure her car wasn't blocked.
06:20She knew that if she moved the boulder back to where it was supposed to be, it would eventually end
06:26up
06:26on her side of the fence again. It turns out that Melissa's neighbors had seriously underestimated her.
06:33She was a very petted person, so they might have thought they could get away with making her life
06:39inconvenient and she wouldn't be able to do a thing about it. But what they had failed to remember
06:44was that. Melissa was in fact a geologist and that means she had access to a professional autochipper
06:52which had the power to drill through stone and pulverize it in a matter of minutes. So she hauled
06:59out her extremely loud stone drilling machine at 7 30 a.m., cranked it up to the highest setting,
07:06and proceeded to obliterate the pesky boulder into a pile of rubble. And so she got to work destroying
07:13the boulder like a total boss. Before long, that pesky boulder was just a pile of rubble which she kindly
07:21swept over to her neighbors. Melissa is incredibly intelligent and knew that if she was going to
07:27cause so much noise, had to do it within acceptable hours. As the noise ordinance stops at 7 a.m.,
07:35she started at 7 30 and worked on the boulder for four hours. Melissa could have waited until later in
07:41the afternoon to create a huge noise so as not to wake her neighbors. But why not get back at
07:47them by
07:47blasting the rock to bits early in the morning as they're trying to sleep off the effects of the
07:53previous night's festivities? After Melissa destroyed the boulder and gave the boys an early morning
07:59whack-up call, she sat down to enjoy a cup of tea. However, what made things even sweeter was the
08:05fact
08:05that she was able to kick back and know that these Rye students were going to think twice from now
08:10on.
08:11Considering that this was the second time that Melissa's car had been blocked in,
08:15she was happy to see that her neighbors might have finally gotten the hint. Knowing that this was a
08:21unique story, Melissa decided to do a live feed on her Twitter account about the entire thing. But
08:28before the questions came flooding in, people online couldn't help but retweet her updates,
08:34and before she knew it, the story blew up. Who knows if it was Melissa's shameless attitude or her
08:40tweets that made the story go viral? May in any event, who doesn't like to see a comical form of
08:47revenge? Being that Melissa is legitimately a volcanologist, she knows her way around her fair share
08:53of boulders. She also happened happens to have access to a very loud auto chipper at 7 30 a.m.
09:01So Melissa honestly had no issue with her neighbors until about a week and a half before this particular
09:10incident when they blocked her car in because they didn't want the boulder in their own driveway.
09:15Everyone loves a good rivalry story. So it wasn't that surprising when people started tweeting at
09:22Melissa asking her questions about the incident. They wanted to know why Melissa's neighbors had done
09:28this in the first place. There had to be a good reason for the rock. They got beef with you
09:33or what?
09:34I've never heard of somebody moving a rock in front of a random person's car, just her kicks before at
09:40you, one person asked. That surprisingly, Melissa answered most of the questions that were being asked
09:47as she responded to the tweets explaining why her neighbors had done what they had done, explaining
09:53sarcastically what a horrible lady she was. What's about? Sadly, yes, I am the evil lady who requests
10:00that if they have a party and people park in the driveway that they move the cars by 7 a
10:06.m. so I can
10:06get out. I'm a horrid person, she wrote. The praise Melissa. Received was unreal. The only part one I'm
10:15disappointed with is that you weren't doing this at 5 a.m., one person wrote. Melissa wasn't expecting this
10:22response when she had originally posted the story. She didn't know that people would find it so funny,
10:29but the attention she received was overwhelming. She commented on how she had gained hundreds of
10:35followers since the story spread in hopes that she can serve as a role model for young girls to become
10:41scientists.
