opening post on The Ugly Daughter Returns as Queen, and the parents make one very specific mistake.
They look at their daughter and see bark skin and thorn hair. Not a child. A defect in the family's appearance, which in their world is the same as a defect in its standing.
So they leave her in the Forbidden Forest. Not out of hatred. Out of standards.
And they never consider that the forest does not grade on looks. It raises her, and she grows up loved by someone who does not check the surface first.
✨ What worked for me:
- Nobody in this story is a monster. The parents are simply consistent.
- The witch is the only adult who never evaluates her.
✨ Bottom line: they threw away the daughter and kept the standard.
Do the parents get a redemption scene?
— K, karma is a dish best served on screen 🥂
