00:00I had asked Greg, it seems a little suspicious that in a matter of two and a half, three hours
00:05yesterday, we heard that Malachi Tony twisted his ankle in practice, but because of the magnitude
00:14of the game, had every intention of giving it the old college try, Greg, was ready to go.
00:19And then two hours later, we found out that, ooh, on second thought, surgery, and hopefully
00:27he'll be back by the playoffs, which is the biggest load I think.
00:31I just don't like being, do not spit in my face and tell me it's raining.
00:35Because, Greg, again, when you're in bed and you're doing business in the sportsbook markets
00:42or prediction markets, that kind of information is key.
00:48And the fact that you let us down one path only to switch gears two hours later, the market
00:56obviously was all over the place yesterday.
00:59You made a call here, a couple of things.
01:02I'm very impressed with how fast you got this answer here.
01:04My thought is that they have known this, and this whole thing was a ruse yesterday.
01:10So I was probably right, by the way.
01:12I was probably right.
01:13No, you're right and you're wrong.
01:14No, you're right and you're wrong.
01:16You're right in the sense that somebody knew that Malachi Toney was hurt or not feeling
01:24right before that practice.
01:25You are correct in that sense.
01:28For you to say that Malachi Toney got hurt in practice and now all of a sudden has surgery
01:35two hours later, it doesn't make sense.
01:36Correct.
01:37You're correct.
01:38That adds up.
01:39That checks out.
01:41But this is where I got to say, if you want to take it further, that's on you.
01:46I'm not going to do that because if the player doesn't, and Joe, I see this in sports all
01:52the time and I deal with these guys all the time and I can give you examples of this year
01:57with the Marlins too, of guys that don't say anything.
02:00Players don't want to admit that they're hurt.
02:03Some guys love telling you that they're hurt and then they miss five weeks and they get paid
02:07and they don't care.
02:08I mean, this happens all the time.
02:09It's a 50-50 shot.
02:11This player clearly had an issue of some kind going into this week, coming off last
02:18week against North Carolina.
02:19I believe, again, from somebody that I trust, and by the way, take everything with a grain
02:25of salt because this is the way that life is.
02:27The idea potentially is that he, the player, did not disclose any kind of severity as far
02:36as being hurt and just went about his business.
02:39And then Wednesday's practice, yesterday, exposed the fact that he was hurt a lot more serious
02:46than what was led on initially.
02:48Which, by the way, credit to the player for wanting to play and wanting to get through it and wanting
02:54to go, which is where you heard some of those quotes that you gave.
02:57Oh, he's going to go.
02:58He's going to try to push through it.
02:59In the end, yes, it does appear that Tony was hurt previously.
03:05But also, I believe that is a very plausible answer for a player that's just trying to give
03:10it everything that he can to go, not really fully disclosing how hurt he is, goes out to
03:14practice, can't run, can't walk, oh, falls down something.
03:18All right, we've seen enough of this.
03:19Obviously, he's hurt more than what we thought.
03:22Let's shut him down.
03:23To me, very reasonable in terms of the answer there.
03:26So that's what I got.
03:28Listen, I agree.
03:30If it wasn't a multi-billion dollar industry where millions upon millions of dollars were
03:37at stake, and again, these aren't just high school kids where, oh, shucks, he was just,
03:43you know, the poor guy who tried to beat a trooper.
03:45No, you're paying him seven figures is what you're paying him.
03:49I can assure you somebody, that's why I don't buy it, somebody knew what was going on with
03:55him the entire time.
03:57Whether or not the team, the organization, the NIL syndicates, whatever it was, they were
04:02all trying to figure it out as to, well, how do we handle this?
04:08The idea that they did not know he wasn't going to be available for this Notre Dame,
04:15Craig, and this goes back to my point, millions, there will be no more handle on a game this
04:23week than the handle that is going to be at the sports books on Notre Dame and Miami.
04:28And yet, you can't sell me on the fact that there were a handful of people who knew exactly
04:34what was going on and knew he was never, ever going to be playing against Notre Dame,
04:41and they knew it on Monday.
04:43They didn't know it yesterday.
04:45And that's my problem, Greg, is that a handful of people knew whether he kept it to himself
04:51or not.
04:52I don't buy it.
04:53Absolutely, I do not.
04:55But I do not even, no way, absolutely not.
04:59It's not happening here.
05:00But you guys get to make up your own mind.
05:03I'm still taking the seven and a half, by the way.
05:04It doesn't make a damn bit of difference whether he plays or not.
