00:00The police union put out a statement today saying that there are LAPD officers and others who are filled with
00:05angst and uncertainty at the prospect of major cuts to LAPD.
00:09Will there be major cuts to LAPD and do you still plan to fire police chief Jim McDonnell?
00:15You know, I have spoken to leadership at LAPD already.
00:19In fact, I'm speaking to Chief McDonnell.
00:22I spoke to him earlier today and it was one of the first calls that I made.
00:25Because public safety is the most important service that the city is delivering to its people.
00:32It is hands down the most important service.
00:35And I want to make sure that whatever happens over this transition, that we are prepared to deliver that service
00:43at the level that Angelenos expect when I take office in mid-December.
00:47And I know Chief McDonnell is committed to that. I'm committed to that.
00:50And we'll continue those discussions.
