New Zealand election 2026 is too close to call, with National and Labour locked together at around 29 percent each as votes are counted. Prime Minister Christopher Luxon's National Party and Chris Hipkins' Labour are neck and neck after a campaign dominated by the cost of living, and neither side can govern alone. The centrist Opportunity Party has crossed the five percent threshold to enter parliament for the first time and could hold the balance of power, while final results including overseas ballots are not due until November 27.
