00:00Hello and welcome to my BQ and welcome to Blender Tutorials. Nice and easy. I'm going to try and explain
00:08a thing to you about as easy as I can. I'll be talking about what I'll show you. I'll be
00:15talking about the dossier.
00:16Now you don't need to learn this part just yet. That's for later on. What you're interested in learning is
00:24the Action Editor. The Action Editor is exactly what it says it is. It's how to create new animations. That's
00:32what it's for.
00:33And from here you go to the Non-Linear. What's the Non-Linear? The Non-Linear is nothing more than
00:42a menu. That's it. The only thing here that's important is the Action Editor. That's it.
00:49And whatever you create inside here goes inside here. Okay. And when it goes inside here what it's doing is
00:58adding keyframe animations to your menu. So you can basically I will show you exactly what it does.
01:07Imagine you make a character like this look. Right? Well I think it's really hard, really complicated and you can't
01:16do it. Let's say you're looking young like that. Yeah if you're that kind of age you only can't do
01:20it. If you're a bit older you only can do it.
01:23As I say look at all the emotions that you want to do with your character. As I say it
01:28doesn't matter if it's a character or a cardboard box. I'm going to show you Blender. I'm going to show
01:33you the cube.
01:33So you understand exactly how to get the animations like that. Right? Except instead of using the character I'm going
01:40to use a box. If you want to watch the later on videos or you watch the ever be cube
01:48menus. I'm doing exactly what I'm showing you in this nice easy video. Except I'm using a character instead of
01:56a box. Okay? Here we go. Let's go to Blender. Open Blender.
02:02But when you first open it this is down here like that. Okay? And this one is in Timeline. This
02:08is standard default. Right? So this is how you work. So I think okay. Here's the box.
02:14First of all if you know how to navigate in here. Great. If you don't know just press the green
02:19thing or the red thing. It doesn't matter. Just turn it to the side. Click on the box. You don't
02:23have to move it up.
02:24But I'm going to tell you that. Just for the video. Just do that. Click the box. Go to move.
02:29Turn the snapping tool on. And just snap it to the top.
02:33Okay? Now I'm going to leave you right in the center. Right? So this is what we're going to do.
02:37We're going to bring up the timeline.
02:41Okay? Now you see my boxes. Now you see. If you look here. You see how there are little dots
02:45in the middle of the box. Right?
02:47That's pretty great. Okay? Leave it where it is. Okay? Right click. Go to snap. Snap the cursor to active.
02:56So the cursor jumps from the floor to the middle of the box. Now watch what I'm going to show
03:01you.
03:01Right click. Insert keyframe. Right? Insert that. Now always do, always do visual location and location.
03:13Say yes. You see here a dot on the screen. Perfect. This is our idle animation. In here is my
03:21download. This one is Emma.
03:22So we're going to ignore that. I'm going to click here. I'll make a new file. And I'm going to
03:26put Emma inside there.
03:29That's just Emma. That's just this. That's just this one. That's on the screen. Right?
03:34Nothing in the middle of the box. Okay? Pretend it's everything. Okay? Let's go back to the window.
03:38Now. Go here. And what you want to do is export it. Now I'm going to say you can export
03:42whatever you want.
03:43But for the video, I'm going to say export to the clipboarders. Right? Because they're pretty great to store your
03:48files and animations.
03:49And you can change them to anything you want later on. Just go here. Okay? Export that. Go download.
03:56We're calling zero. Okay? And now just leave it. Don't do nothing. And just go export.
04:02Okay? Let's see if we get the box on the screen. Okay? Here's our zero. Open it.
04:08And as you can see, we've got a cube. Great.
04:13On the 30th of June. Yeah. They're going to discontinue using the 3D viewer.
04:22I don't know why because it's absolutely great. But I'll just tell you that.
04:26They've got a new thing. It's called Baby Lion. I call it Bobby Lion. It's another learning curve.
04:33As I said, I don't like it. I've already tried it. I don't like it at all. I just don't
04:37like it.
04:37At the moment. I really don't like it. I love this one because it's nice and easy, plain and simple.
04:43And when you're going to talk about the MFPQ menus and the Microsoft menus, it's important.
04:49Because see here on your playback animation bar? Down here is a menu. The menu that's here is the non
05:00-linear that's here.
05:01It's exactly the same menu. It's got a different name? Yes. It looks different? Yes, it does. But it's exactly
05:08the same.
05:09Okay. Anyway, let's not confuse things. Well, here's your box. Let's get rid of the cube.
05:14Go here and just reach out here. Okay? Now I'm going to show you. Delete the cube. Right click and
05:21go delete it.
05:22Go here. Import. Import your glyph file. Import means to bring it in. Go to your downloads. Bring it in.
05:30Bring it in. So we know we've got standard default. Right? Bring it in.
05:35And you can see the animation is already on it. Okay? So this is already preset.
05:39Now, what we want to do, we want to add an animation to this so we can do something with
05:44it.
05:45Okay? Go here. I'm going to go into DopeSheet. Right?
05:49Once you're in DopeSheet, don't do nothing. Go here. Go to Action Editor. This is where everything happens.
05:56Go here. You'll see your menu here. This is your first animation. See here? This is the very first animation.
06:05Right?
06:05Put the shield on it and push it down. When you push it down, look here, and you see it's
06:12got an F on it.
06:13The F stands for Key Frame. It's the first frame. Okay?
06:19Now, if you go to Non-Linear, I'll show you. Go to Non-Linear and drag this back up again.
06:25If you look in here, you'll see you've got two animations on here. Right?
06:28This is the one that we've got. This one here. Okay?
06:31So, as I said, you don't do nothing. You're just sitting there. Right?
06:35Ignore the other one. You can ignore that until the one I've ticked is the one that we've got.
06:40We can delete that one afterwards if we want to. I don't want to confuse you. Right?
06:44Leave the one I've ticked. Right?
06:46Go back to DopeSheet. It will automatically go back into Action Editor. Right?
06:54This is your keyframe. You can click on it and put it back on here. You don't want to do
06:57that.
06:58Put it on the first frame. Now, you see your cube. What you want to do is right-click on
07:04it and insert the keyframe again.
07:07Now, this time, go about 30 seconds. Grab the cube. And let's move it up a square.
07:17And move it across a square. Right?
07:20And now, once we've done that, we can right-click on it and we can do Insert Animation.
07:26Now, of course, this is our next animation. Great. Okay?
07:31This is our second animation, right? So, here. From here to here.
07:36I think, okay, what else do you want to do? Okay. At 60 seconds, I'm going to move it forward
07:42a square.
07:43And I'm going to move it down a square. And then I'm going to go here and I'm going to
07:48insert that.
07:49So, now we've played animation and you can see the box jumps across the screen. Right?
07:54Now, we can put here, jump.
07:59Jump. Put the shield on it. Push it down.
08:04Go back to here. Go back to the linear.
08:10Jump. Okay? Now, of course, there's two ways to name the actual jump. Okay?
08:17Do you see how everybody named it? It's here. Go back here and watch. I'll show you.
08:21If you go into your doji, go back to actually that. Look here. It's called jump.
08:25The first one, look, it doesn't have no name on it. We don't know what it is. Okay?
08:30Let's go back here. Let's suppose we want to change the name.
08:33To change the name, go back in here. See the first one? This is here, look.
08:39To change the name, two clicks, you can change it. This is zero. Right?
08:45So, leave it on that. And then if you go right on the end of here, right click and go
08:50to rename.
08:52We can call it zero. Okay? We can call it zero, like that. And then go back to here. We
08:58can call that one zero.
09:00And you can't see here, but you can see here. This one, we don't actually need it.
09:04Just leave it there. Okay? Now, the idea of this, the long linear, you see here, look, this is the
09:11animation.
09:11Now, I don't want the animation to play straight away. Right? This is what I want to do.
09:19If you put the lock on, they stay where they are. You can't move the animations.
09:24Take the lock circle. So, this one here is the first animation. Right?
09:29So, what you want to do is leave it where it is. It's right behind the back of there. Right?
09:33Now, we take, let's say, one o'clock, two o'clock, three o'clock, four o'clock. Whatever.
09:39We're going to take the jump. We're going to move it, let's say, to two o'clock. Okay?
09:44Back there. It's not two o'clock, it's two seconds. Two hundred seconds.
09:49Now, as I say, we're going to be taking it to hours. Right? So, we don't want to wait hours.
09:54So, the box is going to sit there for approximately two seconds. Again, it's going to jump. Right?
10:02So, look at the timeline. We need a little bit more timeline on that because it's just slightly over.
10:08We don't have to do that. We can just put it back a little bit. If you want to increase
10:13the timeline, you can.
10:14You just go here. Timeline. Two o'clock is max. So, what we can do, it's not max. You can
10:22have whatever you want.
10:24I want to basically leave it on, let's say, 300. Okay? It's extended the timeline. Right?
10:32So, go back here. Where it's non-linear. And, of course, now, I can move it back up. If I
10:37want to, to about there.
10:38Okay? Now, of course, if I move this to the end of the animation, I can see where it ends.
10:45So, if I end my animation on 264, I can go back here. Timeline. Now, I know it's 264. Here
10:57we go.
10:58Okay? My timeline now is short. Okay? 263. That's where it is. Okay? Watch.
11:04It will stay there until it gets to 2. After 2, it will jump. Oh, look at that. Now, watch
11:12what happens.
11:13If I go here and export it, stay here. Now, believe it or not, you just learned the whole entire
11:19thing. Watch.
11:21Look here. Number 1. This animation 1. Right? Keep watching. It will stay there. It won't do nothing.
11:30Because we haven't told it to do nothing. We've got 2 animations. Because we created 2 animations.
11:36The first one does nothing. The second one will make it jump. Oh, yeah.
11:42But how about if we want to do it together? Well, that's easy. Of course, obviously, turn the loop off.
11:48And it will jump and it will stop. Okay? And then, of course, you can play backwards if you want
11:52to.
11:53But I want to run this animation and this animation together. So, I've got no animation menu.
11:58I'll be like, okay, let's do that. Okay? Go back to Blender.
12:02Okay? Now, I want both of them together. Don't do nothing. Just go here. Go here. Export it as a
12:10click foil.
12:12Okay? Click. Let's say number 1. Change it to number 2. Say, go to here. Bake the animation. Go here.
12:20And say, make it one animation. It's a glyph animation. Now, it's going to get rid of the animation menu
12:28and give you one animation.
12:29So, it will stay there for two seconds and then it will jump. Okay? Here it is here. Now, watch
12:38the animation menu is gone.
12:41It stays there, look, and you'll automatically jump after two seconds.
12:46It goes and then it jumps. Okay? As I say, look, it'll stay there for approximately about two seconds and
12:54then it jumps.
12:55And that is the whole thing learned about the software.
13:00Now, it's an easy, fast, quick tutorial, right?
13:03Say, what? Is that it? Is that the knowledge? Yes, that's it. That's what you're going to learn. That's it.
13:10And it doesn't matter, like I said to you, it doesn't matter if it's a box.
13:15Or where it's Emma. It's exactly the same thing.
13:19Now, instead of the box jumping across the screen, I've got my character turning left and right.
13:25And I've also turned the bike left and right.
13:29Of course, if you look at that character there, it looks like she's using actual physics to actually twist the
13:35bike.
13:36She's not, she ain't got no physics. It's just the graphics on the screen. Only the graphics are moving.
13:43There's no physics involved in that. As I say, when you put it in the game world, it's going to
13:47make your game run really, really nice and fast.
13:50Because you don't have to use the physics. Only have to use the physics on certain things.
13:56Like, maybe on clothing, like a bed sheet. Maybe like a piece of cloth.
14:04On the water, things like that. Yeah, things like that, you need to use physics on it.
14:09When it comes to trees, things like that, no, you don't need physics on that.
14:13You can just do an animation on it and have it plain and simple.
14:18So it just looks like that. It looks like it's moving in the wind.
14:21But really, it's not doing nothing.
14:24Anyway, you've learnt the whole lot. That's it. That's about as fast as I can do in the tutorial for
14:28you.
14:29I hope you learn a lot. I really do. I hope you don't get lost.
14:32Now, as I said, you don't know if it's a box or you don't know if it's a character.
14:37It's exactly, honestly, you can try it yourself. It's exactly the same.
14:42I'll say, you can use a box. I'll say, this could be Emma now.
14:45She'll be sitting on a bike. And after two seconds, she can drive off with the bike.
14:51Like that. Now she's driving off with the bike. Simple as that.
14:55And then, of course, she'll play and it'll stop.
14:58So if she'll drive from here to here, then she'll stop.
15:00And then, of course, if we play the animation again, she'll go from here to here.
15:04And then eventually, at some point, she'll be off the screen.
15:07Stay safe and friendly. I hope you learn a lot.
15:10See you next time. Don't forget to subscribe. I'll appreciate you.
15:12So will you in the future. You're much on the Pixel.
15:15See you later. Bye.
