video: Austin Reaves' frustration boils over as Lakers star repeatedly hits himself with a water bottle

Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves attracted attention on social media after a video circulated showing him repeatedly hitting himself on the head with a water bottle while sitting on the bench during a game. The unusual reaction was interpreted by some fans as a sign of frustration, although the specific play or situation that triggered it has not been independently confirmed. The video circulated at a time when the Lakers were enjoying a strong start to the 2026-27 NBA season.Through their first ten games, Los Angeles had an 8-2 record, winning four consecutive games and establishing itself as one of the league's most productive offensive teams.Following LeBron James' departure, Luka Doncic and Reaves have taken on prominent roles in the Lakers' offense.Doncic delivered a season-high 53 points in the team's 124-118 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on November 6. Reaves contributed 25 points in the same game, helping Los Angeles recover from a 16-point first-half deficit. The two guards have developed an effective partnership, combining Doncic's scoring and playmaking with Reaves' ability to contribute as both a scorer and facilitator.Despite the team's success, the water-bottle incident illustrates a visibly emotional moment for Reaves. The footage does not establish whether his reaction was directed at his own performance, a teammate, an officiating decision or another aspect of the game. The exact game and recording date of the clip remain unverified.
