A 19-year-old driver was hospitalised in critical condition after he crashed his car on an Interstate highway in Sugarcreek Township, Ohio.
The one-car crash shut down the highway's southbound lanes for six hours on Monday.
The State Highway Patrol said the driver was ejected onto a highway shoulder.
Troopers said he was alert and conscious after the crash.
A police dashboard camera captured footage of the 1985 Pontiac Firebird speeding along the centre grass divide on Interstate 675, running up on a rail and flipping into pieces under an overpass.
Investigators were trying to determine how fast the car was going.
