This is British rider Louise Pavitt riding Unbelievable Darco in the 2011 Speed Derby at Hickstead. Her riding was beyond shocking. She whipped and kicked her horse all the way round the course. At the bottom of the bank, she whipped him no less than five times, and after having the last fence down, gave the horse a spurring. She broke the rules as the FEI (who govern equestrian sports) state that a horse should be hit no more than three times at a single fence. It also states that spurs should not be used as punishment. It was also discovered shortly after the round that Unbelievable Darco had a nose bleed. I am unsure if this happened during or after the round, but the hard ride Ms. Pavitt gave him would not have helped matters. At least she was given a warning by the judges. Please comment if you think that horses should not be abused like this in the name of sport. Thank you.
