Carolina Herrera forecasts sophistication for Spring.
The Latin designer created a feminine, fluid collection for Spring 2012 full of daytime looks and evening gowns.
Herrera's global mix of clientele were front and center - before the show Herrera described her target audience.
SOUNDBITE: Carolina Herrera, designer, saying (English):
"Women who wear Carolina Herrera, they want to - they are sophisticated and they want to be elegant. They don't mind to be elegant because some people don't, they want to be cool instead of elegant."
The veteran designer took a new approach to the trend of strong spring colors - making canary yellow silk look sophisticated -- in print silk chiffon and solid silk gowns.
However, color blocking in black and white for day and night delivered a fresh trend for the fans who prefer to stick with neutrals.
But the piece de resistance was her last runway look -- a grass green silk beaded top paired with a matching silk skirt which mimicked a waterfall of silk spring leaves.
And as the show comes to a bittersweet end for some, make no mistake that Herrera is backstage rejoicing.
