(ROUGH CUT ONLY - NO REPORTER NARRATION)
Clashes erupt outside a Ukrainian court just before former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is sentenced to seven years in prison.
A judge ruled that she exceeded her powers by ordering state energy firm Naftogaz to sign a gas deal with Russia in 2009 -- a verdict set to further strain ties between Ukraine and the West.
Tymoshenko's supporters gathered outside the courthouse and tried to enter the building, but were held back by scores of police in riot gear.
