To say that "Florence and The Machine" is back with a second album would be a gross understatement - because thier debut record "Lungs" never really went away.
"Lungs" catapulted 25-year-old Florence Welch and her band to the top of the charts, selling over three million copies, snagging numerous awards and turning Florence into a fashion icon.
Her new album "Ceremonials" was recorded within five weeks in the famous Abbey Road Studios at Welch's home town London.
Welch says she wanted to produce a coherent and more adult record.
SOUNDBITE: Florence Welch, singer, saying (English):
"I think I had a clear idea on the second record of what sound it was I wanted to make and it's almost as if it kind of took that as far as I could, you know, made it as big as possible. It kind of is heavier, I feel like it has evolved in a kind of darker, heavier way, like the bass sounds and the organ sounds are quite doomy sometimes."
And while Welch continues to set fashion trends, the singer finds the attention strange.
SOUNDBITE: Florence Welch, singer, saying (English):
"I don't know, I think it is weird because I started out wearing my old grandmother's dresses, clown suits, you know, bits of feather cape... whatever we could find in a charity store or vintage store, with glitter all over my face.... It's nice it evolved from that. But it's where I started and I think it's that sense of drama and of fun that I love in fashion. The kind of dressing up bit, the kid in me just loves dressing up. So I think for me it's an escape. It's something I really enjoy and am really passionate about."
"Ceremonials" hits stores on October 25.
