On day two of Egypt's parliamentary elections, Tahrir Square - the epicenter of the revolution that brought voters to this moment-- is calm.
Newspaper headlines exclaim the people's sentiment: "The silent have spoken".
Voting will continue for several days as constituents in other parts of the country cast their ballots.
So far, the process has been seamless with little to no reports of trouble.
In Alexandria, commuters on their way to work express their pride.
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) COMMUTER, MOHAMED MAHMOUD AWAD, SAYING:
"Today, every Egyptian has discovered that Egypt is safe, no matter the circumstances or events. The people united and were able to show the whole world that Egypt is strong; her people are strong and are not influenced by anything negative, external and internal."
Although days of voting remain before results are announced early next year-- voter optimism remains high as a new Egypt come into focus.
