A bus driver in China's Guangdong province has died of bird flu - a week after being admitted to hospital with a fever.
State media reported that the 39-year old had tested positive for the H5N1 virus.
Guangdong's main newspaper said that 120 people who had been in contact with the man had not developed symptoms.
But local health officials said they were monitoring the situation closely.
(SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) DEPUTY DIRECTOR FOR SHENZHEN CENTRE FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION MA HANWU SAYING:
"We will observe closely those who have had close contact with any bird flu patient - despite not showing symptoms - without interfering in their normal work and life."
Hong Kong recently culled 17,000 chickens and suspended imports from China for 21 days after a dead chicken there tested positive for the virus.
H5N1 is normally found in birds but can jump to people who have no immunity to it.
