British action star Jason Statham said he wouldn't mind doing romantic comedy if director Steven Spielberg were at the helm.
The 44-year-old British star signed autographs for fans gathered outside the BFI IMAX in Waterloo on Monday (April 31) before heading inside to talk to the media.
After making his name as an actor starring in Guy Ritchie's gangster movie Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Statham has gone on to play a series of hard-man characters.
Statham plays a down on his luck cage fighter in 'Safe', who finds himself in trouble with the New York mafia when he tries to save a young girl.
Speaking about what other genre of movies he might like to take on, Statham joked: "You know it's what comes my way if Steven Spielberg wants to give me a romantic comedy, who am I to say no to that, not that he is going to be knocking on my door for that kind of part I am sure, but you can only eat from what's on the table and you know the selection comes from the food that is laid out so for me I have been choosing from what's been available to me."
This summer Expendables 2 is set to be released, in which Statham is back starring alongside a number of big names including Sylvester Stallone. "Yeah it was good as good as it could ever be, Sly is a great person to work for and we have become good mates." He said.
Safe is released in cinemas on Friday May 4 2012.
