Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez announced his candidacy for reelection to throngs of cheering supporters Monday.
Chavez held up his registration papers for the October 7th elections-- which most polls have him winning, despite his recent battle with cancer.
In his first appearance after undergoing rounds of radiotherapy treatment in Cuba-- the enthusiastic leader told supporters he expects to win , quote, by a knockout.
Analysts expect a highly contentious election as Chavez's socialist model is put to the test.
