Rebel progress in Libya

Rebels have made significant advances over the past month, particularly in the western mountains.

Though rebels have been stalled outside Misrata, in the city of Zlitan to the east of Tripoli, fighters in the Nafousa Mountains pushed Gaddafi's forces out of numerous towns, including al-Jawsh, Qawalish, Bir al-Ghannam and eventually Gharyan. They then pushed north to Zawiyah.

With residents of Tripoli rising up against Gaddafi, rebels are now poised around the city for the final push.
