Captain Amadou Sanogo, Mali's coup leader, says he will hold a national convention on Thursday to determine the country's future.

This announcement comes despite harsher sanctions from its West African neighbours, and a losing battle against Tuareg rebels in the North.

But, the Taureg rebels are facing divisions of their own.

Al Jazeera's Hashem Ahelbara reports from Bamako.
