ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: NASA launched its Atlas V rocket carrying a pair of satellites designed to study the impact of solar storms on Earth early Thursday morning (August 30).
The rocket launch was delayed several times because of bad weather and technical issues.
The probes will orbit Earth through the hazardous Van Allen radiation belt to gather information about how and why solar flares disrupt satellites in space and communications networks on Earth and how their impact can be minimized.
