00:00This is a toy spot on the Spider-Man movie Marvel Legends line from the Sandman series.
00:06Today we're looking at Doc Ock.
00:20Now similar to Green Goblin, Dr. Octopus here didn't actually appear in Spider-Man 3,
00:28but I guess they really wanted to fill out the line.
00:31Certainly if they only had the characters from Spider-Man 3 in it,
00:34you probably would have only had about five, maybe six figures in the line.
00:39So they wanted to fill it out, and because of that they threw in Doc Ock.
00:44Now I didn't personally mind.
00:46Doc Ock was actually one of the first figures I picked up from this line,
00:49because I didn't actually pick up Dr. Octopus from the Spider-Man 2 movie figures.
00:55Now it ended up working itself out, good or bad,
00:59that I picked up Doc Ock as a figure on its own.
01:02I really didn't want to get the set.
01:04And then as I got more and more figures, I finally just said,
01:07ah, screw it, I'll just buy the whole set.
01:09Luckily they were buy one, get one free, so it wasn't a total loss.

01:31He's not really what I would have picked as the actor for Spider-Man 2.
01:34Personally, if anyone cares, I probably would have picked Larry Drake.
01:38Anybody who watches Dark Man, you'll know exactly who Larry Drake is, or Dr. Giggles.
01:43Personally, he would have been my pick for Doc Octopus.
01:45He would have been perfect, but...
01:47Still a pretty good Doc Ock, though.
01:50On the back of the package, the other figures in this wave,
01:54we've got Mary Jane, we've got New Goblin, Doc Ock, Green Goblin,
01:58Spider-Man, Sandman, Black-suited Spider-Man, and finally, Venom.

03:12That is packaging on Dr. Octavius.
03:17What we're going to do is we're going to get this opened up,
03:19and the camera wasn't focusing for a second.
03:21We're going to open this guy up,
03:22and we will have a better look at Doc Ock.
03:27Don't go anywhere.
03:29And the piece that Doc Ock comes with is the arm of Sandman.
03:35Just get that in place,
03:37and we will take the arm,
03:39plug it into place,
03:42and there we've got...
03:44Oh, look at how wonderful it's becoming.
03:48It's turning out to be a great figure.
03:50There we have two pieces shy of a finished Sandman.
03:58So what we're going to do is move him out of the way,
04:01and get a good look at Dr. Octopus.
04:05Now, unfortunately, I don't have the original Dr. Octopus,
04:08as I was saying,
04:09so I can't do a comparison.
04:10I don't know.
04:11It does appear to me that it is the same body mold as the initial Dr. Octopus.
04:21Now, I'm just going by what I'm thinking here,
04:24and I may not be right,
04:26but the figure does,
04:28much like the Green Goblin,
04:30he does feel pretty light.
04:32He doesn't have a substantial weight to him.
04:39So, I don't know if it's the original Doc Ock was like that as well,
04:43but this one feels a little cheap.
04:46Speaking of cheap,
04:48he has these really neat tentacles,
04:50his arms, his robotic arms.
04:52You can actually open them up.
04:58And I'm not a fan of really how they painted the inside of these arms,
05:03or the hands here.
05:04They're individually articulated,
05:06which is nice.
05:10There is also a wire in the tentacles here
05:13that you can bend the arms every which way.
05:18However you so see fit to have them.
05:22Get the other one opened up here so you guys can see.
05:26Yeah, I don't like how that's painted on the inside.
05:29Speaking of cheap,
05:30and I don't know if the original Doc Ock had this or not,
05:33but the arms,
05:34the bottom arms,
05:36actually don't have wires.
05:37They're just loose,
05:42just loose rubberized pieces of plastic,
05:44which are a shame,
05:45because these are the arms that have the additional fingers.
05:49If you want to call them fingers,
05:51they're not really fingers,
05:52but they've got the additional pincers on them.
05:58You know,
05:58if it had been wired,
06:01you probably could have got enough
06:04to get the figure to stand on them,
06:07but because they're just these loose rubber,
06:10rubber pieces,
06:11you can't really do much with them.
06:12They kind of just sit on your shelf,
06:16or wherever you've got it displayed.
06:18They just kind of sit to the side.
06:21I'll give you guys a view of the back here.

10:48He's just a bit disappointing.

10:53with paint and everything aside,
10:54the lack of the wires here,
10:56he is a decent figure.
10:57And I am glad

11:05he is the better
11:06of the figures
11:07between this guy
11:08and the original.

11:17the line at all,
11:18but he is still
11:19a pretty good figure.
