00:08On today's Christmas spot, we're going to be looking at the new line of Nightmare Before Christmas figures.
00:14This is Series 1 and is brought to you from June Planning.
00:19Today we're going to be looking at Series 1, Jack Skellington.
00:22A very interesting line, because for anybody who's followed the Nightmare Before Christmas figure line,
00:30generally you probably would know that NECA was the line that covered the series.
00:36And I don't know whether they've lost the licensing for the Nightmare Before Christmas figures,
00:41but it now seems like we've got it provided and distributed by a company called June Planning.
00:50I've tried to do a little research on this company.
00:53It seems to me that, from what I've seen, June Planning did a lot of doll collections
01:01over something what you would normally expect, like through a plastic line.
01:07Very strange. Very strange. I'd be curious to know. I mean, it's Series 1.
01:12I'd be curious to know if this line does well.
01:16You know, if this is one of their first outings with an action figure line,
01:21I am definitely curious to see how this line turns out.
01:26Package-wise, yeah, it's pretty interesting.
01:28I mean, package, it's kind of a coffin shape, kind of a coffin design.
01:35In the back room, we've got, like, jack-o'-lanterns on a fence.
01:40Some would almost say, spot, you probably could do this during Halloween,
01:44but Nightmare Before Christmas, why not? It can go either way.
01:47We've got some nice ghouls going on there.
01:53On the back, the other figures in this line.
01:58We've got Mare, Pumpkin King, we've got Behemoth,
02:01the Vampire Brothers, Sally, and Dr. Finkelstein.

02:11This is actually an import, by the way, as well.
02:13The read-up says,
02:15A slender, elegant fellow, Jack Skellington moves gracefully across the screen.
02:20Although he, he's, apparently he's known, there we go,
02:25he's known far and wide for his blood-curdling screams.
02:29Jack's heart is gentle, and he yearns for something more than scaring people.
02:34When he discovers Christmas, Jack tries to recreate it,
02:38although his methods may be all wrong.
02:40His intentions are all good.
02:43And his own way, Jack finally succeeds in bringing a bit of Christmas spirit to Halloween Town.
02:49I guess the features of the character,
02:51that 15 articulations,
02:54fully movable,
02:57probably some translation issues,
02:59is change the,
03:01change the,
03:02another jackhead.
03:04I guess you can change it out with another jackhead.
03:06And,
03:07and,
03:08it also comes with a figure stand.
03:11I am curious to get this out of package.
03:14I want to,
03:14curious to see,
03:16if this is a,
03:17if NECA,
03:18first of all,
03:18I don't know if NECA is going to continue
03:20releasing Night Before Christmas figures.
03:22I believe they are,
03:23so this might be just a stand-alone import line.
03:26But I am definitely curious about getting this opened up.
03:29So what we're going to do,
03:30is we're going to get,
03:31open the new line,
03:33of Night Before Christmas figures.
03:35And,
03:36I'm going to give you my thoughts off the line.
03:38So stay tuned guys,
03:39there is so much more,
03:41to come.
03:43All right,
03:44so we've got Jack Skeleton out of his package.
03:48I'm a little uncertain so far.
03:50But let's go through the figure itself.
03:53You'll notice that I've got the figure,
03:54first of all,
03:55on a display stand.
03:56He does come with a display stand.
03:58Very similar to what you would get with a sideshow,
04:01or,
04:01coincidentally enough,
04:02what you would normally get with a,
04:04a collector's doll.
04:05So it would make sense that,
04:07the,
04:07the company June Planning,
04:10would probably give you a display stand.
04:12And the display stand says,
04:14Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.
04:18That's the base.
04:19And then you've got,
04:20the,
04:21the main neck,
04:23of the display stand.
04:24The top piece has the clip for the waist,
04:27that you can actually take out.
04:29There is a secondary piece,
04:31that you can put back in as an extension.
04:33And you can put that back in the top.
04:36Originally when you get it out of package,
04:40the neck,
04:41actually is going to be the full length.
04:43And when you put it on,
04:44you're going to realize that it doesn't quite fit,
04:47the Jack Skeleton.
04:48So,
04:49in Jack's case,
04:50you would definitely have to take it out,
04:51and rely on the,
04:53the shorter,
04:55stand.
04:57So there you go.
04:59Put that aside,
05:00let's have a look at Jack Skeleton.
05:02I banged the camera,
05:03let's get that back going.
05:07Um,
05:08I like it.
05:11Having it in hand though,
05:13I mean,
05:13having it in hand,
05:16it's like holding a straw.
05:17It's like holding several straws,
05:20kept together.
05:20It feels extremely,
05:22extremely fragile.
05:25Extremely fragile.
05:26I mean,
05:28granted,
05:28it's hard with a character such as Jack Skellington,
05:32because generally his character anyways,
05:34is a very thin character.
05:41And that guy,
05:41I find it a solid enough job,
05:43balancing out,
05:45you know,
05:46how small the character was,
05:49with articulation,
05:50and detailing,
05:51and everything else.
05:52Um,
05:53this character,
05:54this figure,
05:54feels so,
05:55uh,
05:57flimsy.
05:58I'm almost terrified about moving it,
06:00because it feels like every piece of it,
06:03like arms especially,
06:04I feel like the arms are just gonna come right off.
06:08Um,
06:09the likeness certainly looks like Jack Skellington.
06:14I don't think there would be any debate as to who the character is,
06:18what the figure is based off of.
06:21Now he comes with,
06:23he comes with three heads.
06:25Um,
06:26he comes with the closed mouth,
06:28as you can see.
06:30He comes with a smiley mouth,
06:34Jack's smiley face.
06:37And then also,
06:38if that's not for you,
06:39he also comes with the scary face.
06:43Like so.
06:45Um,
06:46all of them have a ball joint.
06:49Oh,
06:50take this off of the,
06:55doesn't want to come off.
07:03Wow,
07:03I can't,
07:05you can actually see the ball joint in there.
07:08It's right there.
07:09It's right there.
07:10But,
07:13to get it off,
07:14there's a secondary ball joint in the neck.
07:17And I feel like I'm adding strain to the neck by trying to get the blasted head off.
07:23Oh,
07:24I would almost say leave it.
07:27Speaking from a reviewer's opinion,
07:29I would say leave the head.
07:33Good,
07:33good idea giving you alternate heads.
07:36But,
07:37for how difficult that's going to be,
07:39that you're going to snap that neck.
07:42At least,
07:43at least,
07:45these were the only two heads I probably would have used anyways on the jack.
07:50And I'm fine enough just to say I'm going to stick with this head because it looks,
07:54it looks fine enough.
07:56Um,
07:56his collar
07:58is a very fragile plastic.
08:02And again,
08:03like,
08:04handling the head,
08:05if your fingers are too close to this,
08:07this is going to break right off.
08:11Oh,
08:12I don't know guys,
08:12it's not,
08:13it's not a good review so far,
08:14is it?
08:15Um,
08:15in the way of his articulation,
08:17as mentioned,
08:17he's got the ball jointed head.
08:20Um,
08:20he's also got a ball jointed neck.
08:23Uh,
08:24you know,
08:24you can get some poses out of it.
08:28But,
08:29the fact that you make for a ball joint neck,
08:31and a ball joint head,
08:33yeah,
08:34very hard to get that head off.
08:38Um,
08:39he's got a peg,
08:40in his shoulder,
08:42that allows him to lift his arm,
08:44forward,
08:45and back.
08:47You can also bend at the elbow.
08:49The hand,
08:50you can bend up and down.
08:52You can also rotate it.
08:56Uh,
08:56his waist,
08:57is mid,
08:58I guess his mid torso,
09:00seems to be on some sort of ball joint.
09:03But,
09:04you can't really do too much with it.
09:07Um,
09:08just because his,
09:09the back of his long tailed jacket,
09:12the tail kind of gets in the way from moving his waist.
09:16Um,
09:16he's got pegged legs,
09:18pegged legs,
09:20a little peg there.
09:21Um,
09:22it looks as if you can only move the legs forward,
09:25you can move the legs back,
09:26but again,
09:27this piece here,
09:28it's obviously going to get in the way.
09:30You can bend at the knee,
09:33and then he's got these little tiny feet,
09:35that you can move back and forth.
09:38Um,
09:38his legs don't spread.
09:41You can't really do too much with it.
09:48Yeah,
09:48I don't know.
09:49I really don't know,
09:50guys.
09:54The problem is,
09:55too,
09:55here's,
09:55here's the real problem with this line so far from what I'm seeing.
09:59Uh,
10:00the line is very expensive.
10:03Can't remember what,
10:03it is currently on Big Bad Toy Store if you want to check out the prices.
10:06I honestly don't remember what I paid for it.
10:08Um,
10:08but the fact that they are imports don't help matters at all.
10:12Yes,
10:13you do get a display stand,
10:15but you really can't do too much with the figure.
10:17I mean,
10:18once you've got the figure on the display,
10:20if I get him back on the display there,
10:23he doesn't really do anything.
10:26Or at least he's so fragile that you almost don't want to do anything with him.
10:34I mean,
10:35I love Nightmare Before Christmas,
10:37but I would say,
10:38if you are going to pay any prices for a Nightmare Before Christmas figure,
10:44I'm really sorry to the guys at June planning,
10:47but I would almost say,
10:50I'd say probably pass on this guy.
10:52Pass on him,
10:53and if you are willing to shell out the money for a Nightmare Before Christmas figure,
10:59go back and pick up some of the originals from NECA.
11:03Quality-wise,
11:04they're a lot better than this.
11:07And,
11:07I mean,
11:08definitely as a collector's market,
11:10if you're into collecting imports,
11:14this might be more your thing,
11:17but I would say for anyone else,
11:19it's probably a pass.
11:21The head thing is definitely an issue as well.
11:26Very,
11:27very difficult.
11:29At any rate,
11:30I'm going to wrap this up here,

11:33I do apologize.
11:35But today's Christmas spot,
11:37we were having a look at the new Nightmare Before Christmas figures from,
11:43I said June,
11:45it's J-U-N planning.
11:48But we were looking at the figure,
11:50the new figures that have been released by them.
11:52It's Series 1.
11:54I honestly don't see a Series 2 coming from this.
11:58I would say it is a pass.
