00:16Today's spooky spot, we're going to be looking at the Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine Ghost Patrol.
00:24This figure, or this Mystery Mobile, or Mystery Machine, oh I said Mystery Mobile, Mystery Machine
00:30includes, if you can see it at the back there, got ourselves Shaggy, got ourselves some Glow-in-the-Dark

00:59Side of package, we just got a picture of the Mystery Machine opened up there.
01:05Of course we've got Shaggy down there with a trap net, looks like a scooter.
01:13And on the back, it says, it's not easy to surprise a ghost, but now you can with the
01:20help of Shaggy and the Mystery Machine Ghost Patrol, the Ultimate Ghost Capturing Vehicle
01:25Fleet.
01:27What?
01:28Can you see that?

01:36Hmm, apparently somebody wasn't spell checking.
01:39Once the Mystery Machine's Ghost Tracking System, GTS, locates the spirits in question,
01:45Shaggy bursts out of, on his capture cycle to nab them with his net.
01:50Help him transfer the ghost prisoners to the Mystery Machine's spookproof cell, and off you
01:56go to make toast of some more ghosts.
02:01I gotta say, whoever was in charge of the rhyming definitely, definitely did a good job.
02:05It comes with two ghosts, glow-in-the-dark ghosts, ghost selection may vary.
02:11Down below, ghosts grabbing, uh, capture cycle and ghosts all fit into the Ghost Patrol spookproof
02:19cell.
02:20So, for, if your first thought was, how could a, possibly a ghost that goes through walls
02:25be able to be captured in the cage?
02:29The easiest, the easiest answer I would give you for that is the fact that the earlier Scooby-Doo
02:33cartoons weren't actually ghosts.
02:35They were real people.
02:37Trying to scare you away from a plantation, trying to scare you away from a house or a mansion.
02:42They always had a motive.
02:45So, that's packaging on the Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine Ghost Patrol.
02:51What we're gonna do is we're gonna open this up, and we will have a better look at the Mystery
02:56Machine.
02:57So, stay tuned.
03:00I can tell you one thing that was scary about this toy, it was these.
03:05There must have been about a hundred of them between the figures and the, and the vehicles
03:09that make up this, this display set.
03:14Curse you, curse you wires.
03:17My pain.
03:20So, several hours later, well, actually, it wasn't that long ago, but, got all the twist ties off.
03:25Let's have a look.
03:27Let's have a look at the play set.
03:29But, the first two things I'll talk about is the ghosts that they, that this set comes
03:35with, the Ghost Patrol.
03:38The first thing, we've got ourselves a zombie.
03:44Miniature.
03:45Of course, white, because these would glow in the dark.
03:48So, you normally would just hold them up to a light, and then you can turn the lights off,
03:52and they will glow.
03:55We also have a ghost.
04:00This ghost, actually, I think, was used in two episodes.
04:02One is a standalone ghost, or there might have been, I think there was three ghosts.
04:06Then, later on, in the Scooby-Doo and Dino Mutt cartoon, there was an episode that I remember
04:13as a child, harking back to a video I had done about bucket lists.
04:17I was talking about things that you watched as a child, and you couldn't remember what it was.
04:21The one thing that was on my bucket list was a Scooby-Doo episode where it had a chocolate,
04:26vanilla, and strawberry ghost.
04:29That we're haunting an old ice cream factory.
04:33And I could swear that I just made it up.
04:35I couldn't remember the episode, because it wasn't part of the initial run of Scooby-Doo.
04:40The Scooby-Doo Where Are You cartoon.
04:44It only so happened that I was talking to a friend at work, and I had mentioned it to him,
04:50and he said, no, I remember that episode, too.
04:52I did a little sleuthing, and it turned out that the chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla
04:57ghost did exist, and it was part of the Scooby-Doo and Dino Mutt cartoon, which I then picked
05:02up the season, watched it, and I wasn't crazy.
05:07So, we do get a ghost as well.
05:12Putting that aside, the other figure that comes with this set is Shaggy.
05:20Now, if he looks a little familiar to you, if you watch my reviews, that is, he was also
05:28packed as the Scooby, or the Shaggy in the Mystery Crew set as well that came with all
05:35all the friends as well as Scooby-Doo.
05:38Looks to be the exact same figure.
05:40They've slightly changed it, too.
05:42If I can just show you guys a close-up look here.
05:45While I did like this Scooby, I want to keep saying Scooby, while I did like this Shaggy
05:50that came with the Mystery Crew, because I thought he was pretty decent, they've somehow managed
05:56to take the same figure, and I don't know, personally, I like this Shaggy more than this
06:03one.
06:04And the chin hair is slightly different, but he seems to have a better cartoon likeness
06:09than the one that came with the 5-pack.
06:15So, it's kind of cool.
06:16It kind of worked itself out in my favor that we actually got a Shaggy that came with the
06:21Mystery Mobile, or Mystery Machine, or I go saying Mobile again, because I think I like
06:26this Shaggy a little bit better than this one.
06:29So, color-wise, he's just slightly different.
06:33This one does seem a little nicer in the pants and everything else than this one, but it
06:37is actually the same figure.
06:40So, moving that out of the way, moving that aside, being that it's the same Shaggy, it's going
06:46to have the same articulation.
06:47He has the articulation in the head.
06:50He has the articulation in the shoulders.
06:52You can bend at the elbows.
06:54Hello!
06:55You can bend the legs and bend the knees.
06:59It makes things very handy that he has as much articulation as he does, because one of the
07:04vehicles that the set comes with is a scooter.
07:11Because he comes with a little scooter.
07:16Shaggy can take, if you take the figure, bend the legs here, bend the knees, you can actually
07:21have him sitting on the scooter.
07:23Unfortunately, being that it's the same figure, his hands don't really cup the handles of the
07:29scooter.
07:29They kind of just sit on there.
07:32But you can have Shaggy driving around on this little scooter as he falls off the interior
07:40of the scooter.
07:41We've got ourselves a little computer console.
07:44Looks like a little radar screen as well.
07:49And he's also got this net.
07:51This net kind of gets in the way, but there's this net in front of this scooter.
07:56The idea is, when you have a ghost, let's just pan the camera down here for a second.
08:01When you have a ghost, you can have Scooby.
08:05There I go saying Scooby again.
08:06You can have Shaggy coming along on the scooter and, wait, wait, wait for it, boom, boom.
08:14That's how you catch ghosts.
08:16Move over, Ghostbusters.
08:17That's how you catch a ghost, with a net.
08:19With a net.
08:21And you can have Scooby, or Shaggy.
08:23Ugh, I'm going to drive myself crazy.
08:25You have Shaggy here, capturing the ghost.
08:30Eh, I don't know.
08:32It's there, but I tell you the real reason I got the set was more so for the Mystery Machine.
08:40But he does come with a little scooter, which is kind of cool, I guess.
08:44Though I wish there was a place where this net could actually latch onto, because it does
08:48just fall.
08:51So I'll just move that aside, move Shaggy aside.
08:54I said Shaggy this time.
08:56Let's have a look at the real meat and potatoes of it.
08:59Let's have a look at the Mystery Mobile, or Mystery Machine.
09:04I'm driving myself crazy.
09:05On the front, we've got Scooby-Doo.
09:09This represents, right here, the first part of the problem I have with this vehicle.
09:14The vehicle is nice.
09:16It does somewhat look like the Mystery Machine from the cartoon.
09:22The problem is, though, this is actually a retool.
09:27This was originally released as the Mystery Machine playset.
09:31The Mystery Machine playset was a much nicer playset, if you ask me, because the headlights
09:38were actually real pieces.
09:40They were real plastic pieces.
09:41And, of course, they had the circular spare tire.
09:46What they've actually done, if you ask me, they've actually stepped down slightly in releasing
09:53this vehicle, because they've relied solely on stickers.
09:57Well, as you can see, I've just taken this out of the package, and already you can see one
10:02of the headlights has curled.
10:04We've got a little bit of sticker wear there.
10:06As well as the front, where it says Scooby-Doo, has big sticker wear right across the front.
10:12And I just took this out of the package.
10:14It's so sad.
10:18Sidewise, it's not quite the Mystery Machine.
10:20It does look slightly different than if you grew up watching the cartoon.
10:24On the side, it would have just said Mystery Machine.
10:27Being that they've repackaged this as the Ghost Patrol, they've actually put a picture
10:32of Shaggy, Scooby-Doo, and the Ghost.
10:38I don't know.
10:38It doesn't quite make sense, because would they really drive around the Mystery Machine
10:42with a picture of Scooby-Doo and Shaggy on the side?
10:47Of course they wouldn't.
10:49Of course they wouldn't.
10:50On the back, we've got Scooby-Doo Ghost Patrol.
10:54Again, with stickers, which is really a shame.
10:57But they've got stickers on the back there.
11:00And then on the top, the vehicle rolls really well, as you can see.
11:07No problems there.
11:09The tires are a bit loose.
11:11I mean, they don't really do much other than moving just back and forth.
11:15But it definitely serves the purpose.
11:17The vehicle rolls really, really nicely.
11:21The front doors, the front doors do open.
11:26Not well, mind you, but they do open, as you can see.
11:30So if you had Scooby, or Shaggy, if you had Shaggy, you can put Shaggy in the front seat here.
11:41Get him in there.
11:42There we go.
11:44And you can have Shaggy driving the Mystery Machine.
11:51The beauty of this machine, though, the beauty of the Mystery Machine, as well, is the fact that if you
11:56have seen my review of the Mystery Crew, for example.
12:01Where's Daphne?
12:02Where is she?
12:03Right here.
12:04You can actually take those figures, and you can put them in, as well.
12:09The downside, though, I don't know if you can see it, is that the Mystery Machine only has one seat.
12:15There's only one seat, one steering wheel.
12:18So, you probably would be better off taking Scooby.
12:22I think he's going to fit in here.
12:25There we go.
12:26You can take Scooby, and you can put Scooby in there with Shaggy.
12:31Aside from the front door's opening, the main gimmick of this is the fact that you can take the back
12:38end of the vehicle and flip it up, flip it over.
12:43You can also drop this.
12:46And where the original Mystery Machine playset didn't have this, this was, I guess, more of a living, kind of
12:54a living area of the vehicle.
12:55What they've actually done instead is they've swapped it out with this, kind of, readout, flip this up, flip this
13:06over, flip this over, and what you've got is you've got a little satellite station, kind of, flip that up,
13:18and bring the camera up so you guys can see what I'm talking about.
13:21We've got ourselves a little satellite dish.
13:26And you can actually close, although I haven't tried this yet, you can close the Mystery Machine, which I think
13:32you can, according to the instructions you can, you can flip this over and have this still sticking out the
13:38top.
13:39If not, you can also just have it open like this.
13:43You can also have it just open, and inside you've got, like, a little working computer station, again, with the
13:49satellite, or the radar.
13:54Clearly, they've got a bead on the zombie, you can see him right there.
13:59And then on the side here, just pan the camera down again, on the side you've actually got a little
14:06cage.
14:07And where do you, what do you put in the cage?
14:10Well, if you remember, Scooby, or Shaggy, caught one of the ghosts, you can take the ghosts, and throw them
14:17in the ghost-proof cage.
14:22It would have been nice if they had a little, something that could have held this up, so you can
14:26have it more like a cage, but instead, it kind of just sits to the side.
14:31But if you've got, you can have Daphne here, you can have Fred, who will be talking about maybe going
14:38out to dinner after this.
14:41We don't know who's paying, I'm sure Daphne, you know, equal rights, we're going to have her pay, maybe for
14:47Fred, and then we're going to have Velma there.
14:53Now, granted, you're not going to want to drive away with them sitting in the back, they're going to go
14:56flying out the back, but there's a nice little display piece, it's kind of neat.
15:03Just take these off, this also folds up again.
15:08Folds up, folds up, folds up.
15:12Top is a bit stiff here, there we go.
15:14And you can take it up, and when you're finished, capturing ghosts, you can drive away with Shaggy and Scooby
15:23sitting in the front.
15:26If you missed your chance to get the Mystery Mobile playset, and of course, if you're a Scooby fan, Scooby
15:31-Doo fan,
15:32if you missed your chance to get the Mystery Mobile, Mr. Machine playset the first time around,
15:38this is actually a great time to pick this up.
15:40You can find these quite inexpensive on eBay, I think, with most prices running at around $15, up to $30
15:47for this set.
15:50It's not quite cartoon accurate, with the additional stickers, the Master Control, and all the other gimmicks that they have
15:56in it,
15:56but despite the sticker problems I have with it, it is still a pretty decent-looking vehicle.
16:03And again, if you have the other set, the Mystery Crew, they fit perfectly in with this as well.
16:11So today's spooky spot, we're actually having a look at the Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine Ghost Patrol.
16:19The scooter is a little disappointing, also, as well, the scooter can fit in the back.
16:24The scooter is a little disappointing, but I think at the end of the day, though, the Mystery Machine is
16:31pretty neat.
16:32And the fact that you can hold the figures inside, I think, is well worth picking this up.
16:38Shame they did the stickers again, but oh well.
