Peter Greste, Al Jazeera's East Africa correspondent, says that al-Shabab sources have confirmed an administrative pullout from the southern Somali town of Kismayo, but assert that they will continue to fight for the city.
The group says that it pulled out in order to avoid a military conflict killing civilians.
