A false flag is a political or military action carried out with the intention of blaming an opponent for it. Nations have often done this by staging a real or simulated attack on their own side and saying the enemy did it, as a pretext for going to war. The term was first used in the 16th Century to describe how pirates flew the flag of a friendly nation to deceive merchant ships into allowing them to draw near. False flag attacks have a long and ignoble history. e.g.; Operation Northwoods 1962: proposed false flag operation against American citizens that originated within the US Department of Defense of the United States government in 1962. The proposals called for CIA operatives to both stage and actually commit acts of violent terrorism against American military and civilian targets. Israel attacked the USS Liberty in 1967: The combined air and sea attack killed 34 crew members (naval officers, seamen, two marines, and one civilian NSA employee) and wounded 171 crew members. 1992 Gulf War Propaganda : Kuwaiti baby incubator lies by PR-Firma Hill and Knowlton.
