00:06Temporary constructs of a feeble human intellect trying desperately to justify an existence that is without meaning or purpose.
00:13And all of them as artificial as the Matrix itself.
00:17A good smackdown is even better with a little water in the mix.
00:21We're losing oxygen! Bold plasma can is a shot!
00:24Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we're counting down our picks for the Top 10 Movie Fights in the Rain.
00:35For this list, we're taking a look at movie battles that probably would have been pretty impressive in their own
00:40right.
00:40But, with the introduction of some heavy precipitation, they become amazing.
00:49Aside from the fact that no one really seems to be slipping and sliding around in spite of the torrential
00:54downpours,
00:55these rain scenes display their own forms of liquid courage.
01:01Number 10. Making a Splash, A Man Called Hero
01:06Usually, when humans are harnessing the power of the elements, it comes by way of windmills or dams.
01:17But, waterbending in a sword fight comes in super handy as well.
01:25When these two martial arts masters set out for a battle of skill,
01:29the rain becomes not a hindrance but another one of their weapons.
01:33And, as a weapon, it's got edges sharp enough to cut a man's bells off.
01:37I don't know why you're going to lose.
01:40Because, in your heart, there's a hole in your heart.
01:43You're going to go back and become a good wife and wife.
01:49You're not going to do anything wrong.
01:53Number 9. Rumble in the Rain, The Outsiders.
01:56Hello, Daryl. No time, no sea.
02:00My ball.
02:01Back in the day, street brawls weren't all choreography and hair pomade.
02:04I'll take you.
02:06Well, maybe a little hair pomade.
02:10But, sometimes, there were switchblades and car fires involved.
02:15The rumble between the Greasers and the Socias was a long time in the making.
02:20But, somebody had to die to drive them to the point of all-out war.
02:24Pony boy, are you okay?
02:26However, everyone knows it's not really a fight until Tom Cruise gets in on the action.
02:37No. 8. Maelstrom Marathon, Pirates of the Caribbean at World's End.
02:48Supernatural crews, nefarious pirates, and finicky sea goddesses are pretty much a recipe for an epic battle on the high
02:55seas.
02:56Especially when one of those pirates happens to be Captain Jack Sparrow.
03:00Whom a lot of people have seemed to want dead at one point or another.
03:04Leverage.
03:05With Calypso's Maelstrom providing a dangerous storm as a backdrop.
03:13Sparrow goes sword to sword with tentacle-faced Davy Jones in a swashbuckling showdown.
03:17You're the cruel of mine, Jack Sparrow!
03:21Cruel is a matter of respect, is it?
03:24Pop him, over there!
03:26Robin, you four go!
03:28No. 7. Showers and Snipers, Saving Private Ryan.
03:32Your family is home!
03:34Go, go, go, go, go!
03:35When you're on a special mission to save the last of four brothers all killed in action during the height
03:40of World War II,
03:41We're here for a private riot. Who?
03:43Things might get a little hairy.
03:46Disconcerting.
03:46A crew of seven men set out to track down Matt Damon's character, while also struggling to stay alive themselves.
03:52I wouldn't venture out there, fellas! This sniper's gonna kill us!
03:56After they're besieged by a deadly accurate German sniper in the rain, the mission becomes a simple matter of survival.
04:03It's to my dad. It's got blood on it.
04:05Okay.
04:10We got him!
04:13Number 6. Turning a Blind Eye, Zatoichi.
04:22Just because you can't use your eyes, doesn't mean you can't kick some major tail.
04:26At least, that's the takeaway from the Zatoichi films.
04:29This blind swordsman isn't your average hero, and with his other senses heightened, he's oftentimes at a unique advantage.
04:41So, when he's set upon by a group of assailants in the rain, he makes short work of them in
04:47an extraordinarily brutal fashion.
04:55Pretty much business as usual.
05:03Empty the cliff!
05:05Empty the cliff!
05:06Number 5. Rain and Robots and Aliens? Oh My.
05:10Pacific Rim.
05:14The fate of all mankind rests in the success of a group of Jaegers.
05:19Colossal manned robots, tasked with combating and defeating invading space monsters.
05:31For the most part, mankind was kinda losing.
05:34Especially since the Kaiju seemed to have an extraterrestrial advantage.
05:37You can't pinpoint it. It's moving quick. Keep your eyes open.
05:41So, when two Kaijus show up in Hong Kong Harbor, two of the four remaining Jaegers go head to toe
05:47to tail with the deadly aliens in rain-soaked combat.
06:04Number 4. Jedi vs. Jetpack. Star Wars Episode 2, Attack of the Clones.
06:13When you're a lone Jedi up against a skilled bounty hunter with a jetpack, you know you have a little
06:19bit of a fight ahead of you.
06:20And when that fight's taking place in the rain, and the bounty hunter's young son is along for the ride,
06:26expect to almost die a couple of times.
06:29I won't forget, and thank you.
06:30How they didn't end up sliding off that slippery metal surface and into oblivion, we'll never know.
06:36Ooh, wait.
06:46Mr. Anderson, welcome back. We missed you.
06:51Number 3. It ends tonight, The Matrix Revolutions.
07:01By the third and final installment of the series, Agent Smith has finally had it with Neo's crep.
07:06It ends tonight, yes.
07:08In fact, it seems that Smith has reached the limits of his computer-generated sanity.
07:13Can you tell me what it is? Do you even know?
07:16He manifests an environment of his making for the final battle with his arch-nemesis, complete with unyielding rain and
07:23Smith's as far as the eye can see.
07:29He may be a machine, but he certainly knows how to dial up the drama.
07:33You must be able to see it, Mr. Anderson. You must know it by now. You can't win. It's pointless
07:38to keep fighting.
07:40Why, Mr. Anderson? Why? Why do you persist?
07:42Our scouts report Saruman has attacked Rohan. Thaelan's people have fled to Helm's Deep.
07:48Number 2. The Battle of Helm's Deep, The Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers.
07:53So it begins.
07:55There's no shortage of final showdowns in this series, and the Battle of Helm's Deep is really no different.
08:01The Battle of Helm's Deep.
08:02The Battle of Helm's Deep.
08:04The Battle of Helm's Deep.
08:04While Frodo, Samwise, and Gollum are trekking their way to Mordor to handle that ring situation,
08:10Aragorn and his army prepare themselves for an onslaught by the Uruk-hai.
08:20It seems only fitting that Thunder and Rain would mark the start of a battle for the future of Helm's
08:25Deep, as well as all of Middle-earth.
08:28The Battle of Helm's Deep!
08:35Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
08:58These are two belts.
08:58Please..накwaaach!
09:17Number 1. Weapons
09:19Wetness and Weeked Warfare, Seven Samurai.
09:26Arguably one of the best battle scenes in movie history, this is the rain fight that started them all.
09:35After a small village commissions the aid of seven samurai to help defend them against marauders,
09:41the film's climax sees a final showdown between the two sides.
09:46It's a powerful scene that helped cement Akira Kurosawa in cinematic history.
09:59Not to mention, samurai battles in the rain are pretty much always cool.
10:09Do you agree with our list?
