00:00 At the end of the month, the national games will start
00:04 that will be held in the city of Marikina.
00:07 Gabby Natividad has the news.
00:09 In the national games, the youths usually learn
00:15 the beauty of the game,
00:16 the unity of the team, and the sportsmanship.
00:20 This is where some of the country's premier athletes came from.
00:23 As a youth, not only in the field of sports,
00:27 but also in the physical, mental, and spiritual,
00:31 this is what is usually done every year.
00:34 Earlier, Marikina City announced
00:36 that it will be the venue of the national games.
00:38 Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte
00:42 also thanked Marikina City Mayor Marcelino Marci Chidoro
00:45 for his quick response to their invitation.
00:48 I would also like to thank the local government of Marikina
00:54 because there are many LGUs who are backing the national games.
01:02 They say they have many reasons
01:05 why they cannot host the national games.
01:10 We were truly relieved when we learned that Marikina City is joining the game.
01:17 Thank you very much, Marikina.
01:19 Strength, training, self-control, teamwork, and perseverance
01:25 are all qualities that can help our young people succeed in the world.
01:30 The national games serve as a strong reminder to our government officials
01:35 that we need to strengthen youth programs.
01:38 According to Mayor Marci Chidoro,
01:40 he is grateful that Marikina City has become a part
01:44 of showing the youth their passion for sports.
01:48 This "Palarong Pambansa" is in and of itself a testament to our goal.
01:54 Our hope for the Filipino youth is the realization of their full potential
01:58 as individuals, as communities, and as a nation through sports.
02:02 Pambansa Board and the City of Marikina,
02:05 partners in promoting the trust of a palaro
02:08 to develop a grassroots sports program
02:11 to maximize the utilization of sports facilities and resources
02:16 and to provide, more importantly, opportunities
02:19 for the physical, intellectual, and social growth of our youth.
02:23 This partnership goes beyond Palarong Pambansa 2023.
02:27 This is our commitment, Marikina's commitment,
02:31 from this day forward to our city, our youth, and our country.
02:35 The national games will officially begin at Marikina Sports Center on July 31.
02:40 Gabby Natividad, for the people.
