00:02 Now, it could have been devastating here, Joe Ranieri,
00:07 for Team USA to bow out of this tournament,
00:10 and some would have called that the biggest upset
00:12 in the history of the Women's World Cup.
00:14 Disaster was avoided, Portugal, USA, 0-0.
00:19 But having said that, Team USA was a massive favorite
00:22 heading into this game.
00:23 Should have been an easy victory,
00:25 but all they needed to do was get a draw or a win.
00:28 Just couldn't lose the game,
00:30 and they were going to move on.
00:31 Waking up early, I didn't see the start of the game.
00:33 Tuned in in the second half
00:35 as I was prepping for the show here,
00:36 and my goodness, I couldn't tell who actually, Joe,
00:40 was the better team in this game.
00:42 Was it Portugal?
00:43 Was it the US?
00:44 Because the scoring chances here, quite frankly,
00:46 for the final 15 minutes was all Portugal here,
00:49 pressing Team USA, getting through their defensive line,
00:52 and also maybe the best defensive line in the sport,
00:55 the goalpost today for Team USA.
00:58 Six inches to the left, Team USA, Joe,
01:01 they were going home today.
01:02 - So, I mean, there's a couple of ways to look at this,
01:06 and it really all depends on where it goes from here,
01:08 right, Donnie?
01:09 I mean, the bottom line is a win is a win, right?
01:13 And basically, the thing you could not do
01:16 was lose this game, and you didn't, so you advanced, right?
01:19 That's the whole goal here,
01:20 was to be able to get to the knockout round.
01:23 Well, they did that.
01:24 The problem is, nothing that we have seen
01:26 from the three games that they have played thus far
01:29 leads me to believe, and we knew this team was young,
01:33 we were hoping we would see the team get better,
01:37 the attack get better, the offense,
01:39 'cause this is a US squad, like you had mentioned, Donnie,
01:42 that we're used to scoring.
01:43 This is never an issue with them.
01:46 They put three goals on Vietnam, who, by the way,
01:48 lost, I believe, the Netherlands, what, seven-nothing?
01:51 Yes, that's kind of what we thought
01:53 we were gonna get in game one.
01:54 We didn't, they did get three goals,
01:56 but then after that, it's been a struggle.
01:58 I mean, it's been an absolute struggle for them
02:01 to be able to get the offense.
02:03 So the offense hasn't improved, the defense is good,
02:06 but now all of a sudden, you're gonna be playing
02:09 much better competition now than Portugal,
02:11 and what's gonna happen here, Donnie?
02:13 I worry that the offense isn't going to figure it out,
02:18 and the attack is not going to figure it out in time
02:21 in order to be able to defend their crown.
