00:03 When you do a business, you put the work,
00:07 you put the right steps into bringing it to reality
00:10 and making sure you have the right team,
00:12 you are on the road to success.
00:15 The name is international.
00:16 You have this Arabic touch and the European Western touch
00:20 in any fragrance.
00:22 Qatari love perfume.
00:23 They love to put perfume.
00:25 Sanitizer was very big jump for us.
00:27 Most of our product now you can see in cafe,
00:30 we're building in Cancun.
00:33 One of my main personal goals is to expand our brand,
00:36 especially Europe.
00:38 My name is Mohammed Rashid Madway,
00:40 and I'm the co-founder of the Perfume Factory.
00:42 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:45 The Perfume Factory started in 2018.
00:54 The idea actually came up from my father, who
00:56 was also my co-founder and partner.
00:58 [MUSIC PLAYING]
01:01 We were involved in different communities that
01:04 are interested in perfumes.
01:06 After I graduated from university,
01:08 I was interested to apply my business degree
01:11 into a business.
01:13 Discussing with my dad in our usual Friday lunch,
01:17 we saw an opportunity to bring a family business to start.
01:22 His idea was to initiate a factory that produces
01:26 made-in-Qatar perfumes.
01:29 I'm originally an architect and city planner.
01:32 I teach architecture and planning.
01:35 Mohammed study business.
01:36 We emerged to do this as a hobby.
01:39 We thought this will be very successful.
01:42 This is our Arabic tradition that we always love.
01:45 So that's why this become our hobby.
01:49 We produce bottles.
01:50 We produce perfume.
01:52 And we give it for a gift to people
01:54 to test, take their impressions before we decide to make it.
01:57 So it's a process of choosing which direction we'll take,
02:01 which type of oil we want to buy and use.
02:05 Doing so many mixing, percentage, strong, light,
02:08 strong, light, until we finalize it.
02:11 I was able to get different feedbacks over time.
02:13 Some of them were negative.
02:14 Some of them were positive.
02:16 Negative comments can give you an understanding of what
02:18 you're going to face in the future.
02:22 Back in 2020, during COVID, the perfume factory
02:25 was entering a different type of challenge.
02:28 We were able to actually contribute to the market,
02:31 transform our production line into making
02:34 sanitizing products.
02:35 Considering that we are a perfume manufacturing facility,
02:40 we have almost 90% of the raw material
02:44 required to manufacture sanitizing products.
02:48 We're able to merge what we produce
02:52 as perfumes with sanitizers.
02:55 We are able to create a variety of collections,
02:57 more than 30 different smells of sanitizers
03:01 and in different packs and sizes.
03:05 We grew our production line to manufacture alcohol wipes
03:08 in different sizes and smells.
03:11 We were a trusted partner to a lot of clinics, entities,
03:15 households, and people.
03:18 COVID was able to open our eyes to our capability
03:21 and how much we can persevere and work against the challenges
03:26 that we are faced with.
03:29 After our challenges, we were able to take a step forward
03:32 into our development team.
03:35 We were focusing on development variety of products
03:38 that caters to different markets.
03:39 We have more than 200 products.
03:42 Our transformation became of taking a product in
03:47 and developing it to a lifestyle product.
03:51 He has all the strengths to succeed in the future.
03:55 It's really a smart brand, and we love it.
03:57 We exported the brand with us in Kuwait.
04:00 I believe that they have some other opportunities
04:02 across GCC and why not in Europe?
04:05 We were able to work with different clients,
04:08 customizing these products to their cafes,
04:12 to their corporate offices, as well as for their events.
04:19 We have customers like five-star hotels, university,
04:22 big client ministry.
04:24 All these type of clients, we customize for them.
04:28 They can customize their own candle,
04:30 their own scents for a diffuser, for a room spray.
04:33 So we started to add the different categories
04:36 that allow people to enjoy the journey of making
04:39 perfume products.
04:41 My advice to entrepreneurs is to be motivated
04:45 and convinced about their business.
04:46 If they don't love the business,
04:47 if they don't have the passion for it,
04:49 then they are not entering the right business for them.
04:52 Business is not easy.
04:54 Patience is what makes it success.
04:56 You have to always see where you're going
05:00 and learn from your mistakes.
05:02 You cannot be perfect from the beginning.
05:04 We think we have a special product that people like.
05:07 You feel your success when you see your product is wanted.
05:11 I think the most astonishing thing is when you meet
05:15 a bunch of people in different places
05:17 and they express how much they like the product.
05:20 Sometimes they have positive feedback of,
05:22 "Oh, you're the perfume factory guy.
05:24 I have this product.
05:25 They use this product in my car or in my household,
05:28 or my wife likes this product."
05:30 So it's just moments of happiness.
05:33 I'm proud of the journey.
05:36 We have a plan for the future to do a lot of expansion.
05:38 We are working under our capacity.
05:41 So I think the successful thing is not yet.
05:45 Still, we are in the beginning of the road.
05:47 (upbeat music)
05:50 (crowd cheering)
