01:02 In a TV Sports interview with Santos Alarcon, the former national team swordmaster,
01:07 he said that he was disappointed in their victories and coaching each other.
01:12 I was the only one who was coaching my husband.
01:15 I told him, "I want to be a coach too."
01:19 "So I won't look pitiful."
01:22 My husband liked me.
01:24 I didn't want him to see me like this.
01:26 I told him, "Do this. You're faster than him."
01:29 "Try to counter-parry."
01:32 He said, "No, it's too close. It's hard to parry again."
01:35 "If he's going to attack, he needs to attack again."
01:37 "He's too close. He might attack."
01:39 "I'll just face him again."
01:41 We both agreed on what I should do.
01:44 So, I showed them that I can be a coach too
01:49 even though I didn't coach my husband.
01:52 But we helped each other.
01:54 That's what I learned.
01:56 If you don't have a coach, you should still have someone to talk to.
01:59 So that the fight is fair.
02:01 Because they feel that if you can do it, you can do it alone.
02:04 Since I'm a coach and my husband knows how to do it,
02:07 we really talked.
02:09 Our strategy worked.
02:12 According to Santos Alarcon,
02:15 he didn't just leave his fencing and target.
02:18 He also hopes to win medals in international fencing events.
02:21 I thought about my excellence,
02:24 my goal, and myself.
02:27 I want to achieve more.
02:30 I'm turning 50 this September.
02:33 I'm only 49, but I'm turning 50 this September.
02:36 That's why I'm already at 50+.
02:39 So I said, "Even if I'm 50, I still want to be a gold medalist."
02:44 This is my first time to be a gold medalist in another country.
02:48 My first gold medal was here in Manila.
02:51 In 1992, South East Asian Fencing Federation.
02:54 I was a gold medalist with the team
02:57 in the Women's Equalize team event.
03:01 While there's no match,
03:03 the Alarcon couple will be watching
03:06 the coaching of an organization
03:08 that they started in 2008 to teach fencing.
03:13 Dario Clares, WTV Sport.
