00:05 is the 6'4" player, Andre Tan.
00:08 What is the reason for the former Xavier School star to play for the Blue Eagles?
00:14 Daryl Oclares will answer.
00:16 Among the newest rookies who can play for Ateneo de Manila University,
00:22 the one who is about to start the UAAP Season 86
00:26 is the former Xavier School star, Andre Tan.
00:28 Tan formally announced last April that he will be a part of the Blue Eagles'
00:33 Season 85 Men's Basketball Champions.
00:37 Since then, the 18-year-old has been a part of several off-season tournaments
00:42 including the Phil Oil Eco Oil Preseason Cup
00:45 and the Universities and Colleges Basketball League Invitational Tournament.
00:48 In a PTV Sports interview, Tan said that he's happy to be given the chance
00:53 to play for the Katipunan Bay Squad.
00:56 So far, it's been going really well. I really like the environment.
01:00 And overall, I think Ateneo is really one of the best schools here.
01:05 You know, I'm blessed to just be here.
01:07 Like other new players of Ateneo,
01:12 Coach Tab Baldwin is also a big reason why Tan was given the chance to wear the Blue and White.
01:18 Definitely, I think Coach Tab is one of the best college coaches here.
01:23 And I think in terms of improvement, from high school, I played big a lot.
01:28 So I think I have to work on my guard skills more.
01:31 And shifting to a college-rate.
01:34 Tan also admitted that he's feeling the pressure of being a part of the Blue Eagles.
01:40 But he insisted that he will show his skills to be proud of his achievement in Savers School.
01:46 Well, yeah, there definitely is.
01:48 But, you know, right now, I'm just enjoying the moment.
01:51 And taking most of the opportunities I get.
01:56 And I hope I make the Savior and the community proud as well.
01:59 Meanwhile, Ateneo's defense has been able to defend their championship
02:04 in their re-match in the World University Basketball Series in Tokyo, Japan
