00:07 In the case of Union for the Homeland, or Union for the Homeland, ruling coalition,
00:12 the contenders are the current Minister of Economy Sergio Maza and the social leader
00:16 Juan Grabois.

00:22 After months of uncertainty and expectation, the presidential pre-candidates for the ruling
00:26 coalition were confirmed on June 23rd, just hours before the closing of the lists.
00:33 The current Minister of Economy Sergio Maza is one of the candidates for the presidency.
00:38 At the age of 29, in 2002, he was appointed head of the National Social Security Administration.
00:45 After being elected mayor of the municipality of Tigre by the Kitchenerist Party Front for
00:49 Victory, Maza served for one year, from 2008 to 2009, as chief of staff for then-president
00:55 Cristina Fernandez de Kitchener.
00:57 In 2013, however, Maza broke with Kitchenerism to form his own party, the Renewal Front,
01:04 in representation of which he participated in that year's legislative elections and
01:08 ran for president later on in 2015.
01:12 In 2019, Maza was one of the players in the Preverence Coalition Everybody's Front,
01:17 with the aim of defeating Mauricio Macri at the polls.
01:20 The ruling coalition's second pre-candidate is the leftist social leader Juan Grabois,
01:25 a leader of the Workers' Union of Popular Economy.
01:28 Grabois began his political activism in the heat of the Social Revolt of 2001, a period
01:33 of strong social, economic and political crisis in the country.
01:37 In 2002, he founded the Excluded Workers' Movement with the objective of organizing
01:41 into unions the workers of the popular economy, such as the so-called "cartoneros," who
01:46 work in the collection of recyclable waste.
01:49 Grabois joined in 2019 the Everybody's Front Coalition as leader of the Patria Grande Front,
01:57 which brings together the country's organized social movements.
