00:00 One year after the Inflation Reduction Act, President Joe Biden is in Wisconsin touting
00:04 the success of his "Bidenomics."
00:07 But despite legislative wins and improving economic indicators, the president is still
00:11 scoring low in economic performance polls.
00:14 VOA's White House Bureau Chief Patsy Widokoswara reports.
00:21 Prices are still high at American supermarkets, but the overall inflation rate is lower than
00:26 last year's.
00:27 Unemployment is at a low 3.5 percent, and wages are rising.
00:32 President Joe Biden says the improvements are due to Bidenomics.
00:36 The strongest economy in the world.
00:39 The highest job satisfaction in 36 years.
00:43 Our inflation rate has dropped to the lowest among major economic nations in the world.
00:48 Yet most Americans just don't see it.
00:51 According to the latest Ipsos poll, 56 percent of Americans disapprove of Biden's handling
00:56 of the economy.
00:58 69 percent, including more than half of Democrats, say the economy is worse now than it was five
01:04 years ago.
01:05 The president isn't really able to connect with people to communicate some big legislative
01:10 wins like the Inflation Reduction Act.
01:13 There's a disconnect there.
01:15 Polls show most Americans aren't familiar with the various pieces of legislation centered
01:19 on improving the economy that Biden has signed.
01:23 But they are familiar with the high inflation that they've experienced for over a year,
01:27 an issue they say is the most pressing in the country.
01:31 So for all of the president's travels to tout Bidenomics, what matters more to Americans
01:36 is how much they pay at the checkout.
01:38 Patsy Wida Guswara, VOA News, Washington.
