00:00 From Australia, the new head coach of the Filipina Women's National Football Team, Mark Torcaso.
00:07 For the first time, he is facing the Philippine media today, where he is sharing his journey in joining the Philippine National Team.
00:17 Aside from this, Torcaso is also sharing that he is still continuing his coaching in a women's football club in Australia.
00:24 Let's get to know him here in the "Ulot ni Kea Sunsion".
00:28 The Philippine Football Federation has introduced the new head coach of the Philippine Women's National Football Team, Mark Torcaso.
00:35 From Australia, he is the 42-year-old football mentor who will serve as the replacement for Alen Stajic.
00:41 Torcaso is very excited about forming his coaching staff in the Philippines.
00:45 He was also assigned by Hadzik from Australia and Andrew Durante as the assistant head coach.
00:51 According to the Philippine team manager, Jeff Cheng, they had an idea to send Torcaso
00:56 because some of the national team members, Angela Beard and Jacqueline Sawicki,
01:00 are also under his company, Western United, who play in the A-League Women's Tournament.
01:06 So from there, the connections, we got into contact with Coach Mark and the rest is history.
01:13 So we got together and we had a discussion and he agreed to do the role of head coach for our national team.
01:21 I got a call from Jeff and Jean a week and a half ago, whatever it was now.
01:29 It was all about just looking at if this opportunity was right for me and right for the national team.
01:36 While Jackie and Angie are very important to the Filipino team, they're also very important to the Western team.
01:43 No conversations were had with them about this role with myself.
01:48 Because of this, Torcaso will have two assignments.
01:51 The reigning A-League Women's Head Coach of the Year trusted him with his back-to-back commitment to the two different groups.
01:58 There's one thing that in my views as a coach is to create a very, very strong group around you.
02:05 That's one thing why Western United was quite successful because we had a very strong group of staff that supported me.
02:12 We brought along a very good group of staff here that can help support me in regards to this role as well.
02:18 I don't always look at head coach role as just being about the head coach.
02:23 This is about a group of staff that collectively do a job.
02:26 So I'm very, very confident that I will balance these two roles.
02:31 Torcaso also shared that he's been coaching the Filipinas for a long time, so he's familiar with the situation in Coponan.
02:39 Obviously, understanding every player and understanding their wants and what they want to do within this national team is very important.
02:46 Every player will be treated equally and more importantly, it doesn't matter if you're in the A-League or you're within the team at Western United.
02:53 Every single player will have that opportunity to prove themselves.
02:56 Hopefully, we see that on show in the next few weeks in some camps.
03:02 Torcaso will try his best in the upcoming Asian Games in the Philippines next month and the second round of the AFC Olympic Qualifiers in October.
03:10 KSNU Tron, PDV Sports.
