00:00 It's Vanderbilt and Hawaii in Nashville.
00:03 The Commodores, as Corkley said at last year's SEC Media Days,
00:07 we want to be one of the best teams in the country.
00:10 Well, Vandy won five games a season ago,
00:13 including their season opening win against Hawaii.
00:16 That was out on the islands in Honolulu Week 0, 63 to 10
00:20 a season ago.
00:21 This year, though, Zeno, Vandy a 17 and a half point favorite.
00:26 With great expectation comes much bigger spreads.
00:29 Zeno, can Vandy cover the number against the Rainbow Warriors?
00:34 The short answer is yes, they can.
00:35 Look, they return 15 starters, seven of them on offense,
00:39 including quarterback AJ Swann, who
00:41 is a legitimate arm and a legitimate quarterback.
00:44 They've got a trio of wide receivers
00:46 that they can throw the ball to.
00:48 Swann just has to make some good decisions here.
00:50 This matchup last year on the island in Hawaii
00:53 ended up with a 63 to 10 Vanderbilt win.
00:56 Now, I know defense is where Clark Lee made his bones
00:58 before coming to Vanderbilt. And they
01:00 weren't very good last year.
01:01 And they've got to be better this year.
01:03 And I'm not sure that they will be all that much better.
01:05 But you'd think with eight defensive starters returning,
01:08 they would start to play a little bit better here.
01:11 17, 17 and a half doesn't even bother me.
01:13 Look, if they can't cover 17 here,
01:16 something is terribly wrong with Vanderbilt
01:19 offensively and defensively in this game.
01:21 I think you're actually getting a better number
01:23 than what it's worth.
01:24 This would be closer to 21 for me when I put my number down.
01:28 So I feel pretty confident here in Vanderbilt being at home,
01:32 being able to cover this number.
01:33 And as far as their season win total here,
01:36 Clark Lee may be able to make a bowl this year.
01:39 If they can win at Wake Forest, something
01:42 they didn't do last year, they lost by 20 at home.
01:44 That's really the key cog in them getting to a bowl game.
01:48 Because that means they would sweep their first four.
01:50 They lost a three-point game to Missouri last year.
01:52 They beat Florida last year.
01:54 And then against South Carolina, they
01:57 had a nine-point loss in a game that they were in.
01:59 So there are other winnable SEC games on this schedule.
02:04 But they need to start out 4-0.
02:05 And they've got to beat Wake Forest
02:07 if they really have a hope of getting to a bowl game.
