00:00 Hello, very good day to you. The heat wave is going to continue for a few days yet with
00:04 some exceptionally hot weather around temperatures getting above 30 for some of us for several
00:09 days now. The cause of it is our hot air that we have across us. It's dragged up from the
00:14 south because we have high pressure to the east and low pressure to the west. And it's
00:18 this high pressure in the east that's dominating the weather, leading to it being generally
00:22 settled and plenty of clear sunny skies, hence why temperatures are rising so high. Take
00:28 a look at the details through Thursday afternoon and you can see there are a few showers that
00:32 have developed across parts of the south west and south west Wales as well. A little bit
00:36 of uncertainty as to how much of the rain is actually going to reach the ground. There
00:40 is a slice of drier air between the showers and the surface as a result. Some of those
00:45 will evaporate before they reach us, but the potential for some downpours perhaps if these
00:49 develop and if they actually make it to the surface. Otherwise, lots of dry sunny weather
00:54 to be had, a bit more cloud than we've seen through some recent days, could be quite high
00:57 level cloud though. So just turning the sunshine bit milky, a bit hazy at times too. Look at
01:02 those temperatures still well above average for the time of year, around 10 degrees above
01:06 average for many of us, likely to get to highs around 31, 32 Celsius towards the southeast.
01:12 And the heat is widespread even across far northern parts of Scotland. We could get into
01:16 the mid to high 20s here. Through the end of the day, we're going to continue to see
01:20 some showers across western parts in particular, perhaps some downpours then developing overnight
01:25 across parts of Scotland. A good chance that some of these could perhaps be heavy and maybe
01:29 thundery too. Clear skies for many as we go through the night, though, like we've seen
01:33 through some recent nights, some murkiness, some sea fog, low cloud drifting in from the
01:37 North Sea, affecting some eastern parts. Also, a few pockets of mist and fog developing elsewhere,
01:42 but look at those temperatures still on the warm side. Another difficult night for sleeping,
01:47 uncomfortable for some of us. It's going to be quite humid, quite muggy and temperatures
01:51 in some towns and cities staying above 20 Celsius like we've seen through some recent
01:56 nights. So a warm muggy start for many of us on Friday morning and a bit cloudy for
02:01 some eastern parts. That cloud, that murk will gradually or quite quickly actually burn back
02:05 towards the coast. And then, yes, plenty of sunshine again for many parts. Still some
02:10 high level cloud, particularly towards the south southwest. And then later on in the
02:14 day, we will start to see the risk of some heavy thundery showers pushing in as we go
02:18 into the evening. Temperatures may be a nudge down only by a degree or so compared to Thursday
02:24 for some of us, but still a good chance that we'll get above 30 Celsius somewhere for the
02:29 fifth day running. Through Friday evening, there's that risk of some thunderstorms perhaps
02:34 affecting parts of Devon and Cornwall. A little bit of uncertainty about this, though. Otherwise,
02:39 generally staying dry with some clear skies. But once more, we are going to see some murkiness
02:44 pushing in from the North Sea. Looking ahead to the weekend then and the hot weather is
02:49 going to continue. Temperatures likely to reach highs of around 32, possibly 33 Celsius
02:54 on Saturday and perhaps Sunday too. But with the hot weather, we do have the risk of some
02:58 thunder. So things likely to take a bit of a breakdown as we go through the weekend and
03:03 into next week when things should start to turn a bit more comfortable and cooler too.
03:07 There's more information on all of that on our social media channels, our website and
03:10 of course our app. See you later.
