00:00 Without Donald Trump present, Vivek Ramaswamy was likely the most outspoken candidate on
00:04 the GOP primary debate stage recently.
00:07 However, during an interview with MSNBC host Madhi Hassan, he got tight-lipped before things
00:12 got a bit impassioned.
00:13 Ramaswamy was asked about his historical criticism of Trump.
00:16 We're on January 12, 2021, just days after the attempted insurrection at our Capitol,
00:21 he wrote on ex-formerly Twitter, "What Trump did last week was wrong, downright abhorrent.
00:27 Plain and simple, I've said it before and did so in my peace."
00:30 That's a far cry from Ramaswamy's current support for the former president.
00:34 The candidate then attempted to evade, saying he had actually blamed censorship for the
00:38 events on January 6th in an op-ed he had written two days prior in the Wall Street Journal.
00:42 But Hassan asked again.
00:43 "On January 7th, that's exactly the thing I would have done.
00:44 What did Trump do that was egregious, quote, downright abhorrent, and a danger to democracy?
00:53 Can you just explain to our viewers, your words."
00:55 Ramaswamy seemingly evaded one last time.
00:57 "I believe that failing to unite this country falls short of what a true leader ought to
01:02 do."
01:03 Recently, during the first Republican presidential primary debate, Ramaswamy was the most outspoken
01:08 supporter of Donald Trump.
01:09 He is now sitting at around 6.8% in most primary polls.
