00:00 Yesterday, we reported on how a passenger was brutally and forcibly removed from a
00:03 United flight from Chicago to Louisville by security guards and police to make
00:08 room for United staff to board an overbooked plane. And now controversial
00:12 information about the passenger in question, Dr. David Dow has also surfaced.
00:16 Yep, according to TMZ, in 2005, Dr. Dow was charged with 98. Yep, I said 98 counts
00:22 for illegally trafficking and prescribing painkillers like hydrocodone,
00:26 OxyContin and Percocet. I can barely pronounce those, shows you how much I
00:31 know about my prescription drugs. Moving on. In 2005, he was also given five years
00:35 probation after being convicted of six felony counts of obtaining drugs by
00:39 fraud and deceit. And he was also convicted of writing prescriptions to
00:42 patients in exchange for sex. TMZ also reported that although he denied paying
00:46 for sex, he did admit to an exchange of sexual favors for reducing the debt that
00:51 patients owed him. Boy, this is getting interesting. And it gets worse. In March
00:55 of 2009, Dr. Dow was referred to the Pine Grove Behavioral Health for a
00:59 psychological assessment and received an Axis One diagnosis of mood disorder. Okay,
01:04 now that we know he's a convicted felon, he has a bit of a mood disorder. Does
01:07 that though make what happened to him right? Is United still in the wrong? I
01:11 think yes, they are. Because the fact is, whether he's a bad guy or not, they did
01:16 it to a person they didn't know who he was. He could have been any of us.
01:19 Billy is taking United's side, posting, "Surely this is a PR disaster and will
01:23 result in a lawsuit, but United followed protocol and called the cops when the
01:26 man, for whatever reason, wouldn't exit the plane. If someone refuses to leave,
01:30 they have to be physically removed by police. This fellow did escalate the
01:35 situation by not exiting the plane himself and surely he was warned that if
01:39 he didn't get up and go willingly, he would be removed with force. His face got
01:43 cut because he was thrashing around like a child pulling a tantrum." And IHit10
01:47 Ring says, "Convicted felon gut what he deserved. Teach him to run his mouth in
01:51 the wrong place." Not really sure about that, but Ralph the Deuce says what I'm
01:54 thinking. Now what does that have to do with the way they treated this man? Some
01:57 crime that he committed 15 years ago? Who cares? Not the problem at hand. Once again,
02:02 doesn't mean it's right just because this guy was or possibly is still a douchebag,
02:06 but I bet United will use this whole mood disorder thing against him if a
02:11 lawsuit pops up. And assuming that's going to happen. And this whole story has
02:14 hit United hard. According to CNN, as a direct result of the situation, United
02:19 shares have dropped about 1 billion in market value. In the meantime, the
02:23 security guard who dragged him from the plane has been suspended, and I'm sure
02:26 this is not the last we will hear of this story. In the meantime, the security
02:30 guard who dragged him from the plane has been suspended, and I'm sure this is not
02:33 the last time we will be talking about this story. So whose side are you on?
02:37 United or the doctors? Or is there something in between that I'm missing?
