00:00 Indians are being arrested for sitting down during the national anthem.
00:03 12 people were arrested in a cinema in India for staying seated during the national anthem.
00:08 Why were they arrested you ask?
00:09 Because the top court has ruled that the national anthem needs to be played before every film
00:14 and that movie goers must stand.
00:17 This is a very odd thing.
00:18 Imagine those people that are always running late to the movies.
00:20 Don't worry dude, there's like 15 minutes of previews and the national anthem is like
00:24 2 minutes long.
00:25 They were later let go but had charges of failure to obey an order issued by a public
00:29 servant thereby causing obstruction and annoyance to others.
00:33 Also at another cinema in India last weekend, 8 people were assaulted and abused for not
00:39 standing and they were charged with disrespecting the anthem.
00:42 The authorities in India are obviously very serious about this rule.
00:46 Even a disabled man was assaulted by other members of the audience because he didn't
00:50 stand.
00:51 This is out of control.
00:52 And this isn't the only strange thing that has happened with anthems.
00:54 A woman in Mexico was fined because she mixed up the words.
00:58 School teachers in Japan were warned because they weren't standing up.
01:01 And let's not forget Colin Kaepernick for not standing during the US national anthem.
01:05 He said that he received death threats because of it.
01:08 People are saying that the Supreme Court just made that rule.
01:11 It spreads nationalism apparently.
01:13 Kanaka says they used to do this in Canadian movie theaters back in the day.
01:16 Never thought it was weird then but I sure do now.
01:19 And JC5504 says not much different from making every public school students say a pledge
01:24 to the country every morning.
01:26 I think it's a little different.
