00:00 As of today, the Syrian government has announced a ceasefire in Aleppo, Syria.
00:03 And now civilians are reportedly evacuating after the humanitarian tragedy that was the
00:08 last year.
00:09 The situation in Aleppo has recently gotten international attention, but you could say
00:14 it was too little, too late.
00:16 The New York Times reported that civilians trying to flee were being shot.
00:20 There was no food, there was no water, but they did have cell service as the bombs fell.
00:25 The city and its people have been left in ruins.
00:29 Many of us have seen these horrific photos and videos in our feeds.
00:34 More recently, children begging to be rescued, civilians pleading for help.
00:39 "Everyone who can hear me, we are here exposed to a genocide in the besieged city of Aleppo.
00:44 Save Aleppo, save humanity."
00:46 According to Al Jazeera, 1,000 civilians and 26 wounded people have been evacuated and
00:51 130,000 have fled since mid-November.
00:55 According to the Syrian government, and as reported on BBC.com, 4,000 will be evacuated
01:00 in total.
01:01 So after four years of rebels fighting against the Syrian regime, is the battle of Aleppo
01:06 over you might ask?
01:07 Now Assad is considering Aleppo a victory and is moving on to destroy rebel forces in
01:11 Idlib.
01:12 Which means the exact same disaster could happen all over again.
01:16 So it's hard to say if this is good or bad.
01:18 I mean people are not being shot now, the innocent people are allowed to evacuate and
01:22 leave and find freedom.
01:23 But it looks like the rebels in Aleppo have ultimately lost, and the Syrian government
01:28 are going to move on to their next fight against innocent people.
01:32 While the evacuation has begun, Assad still remains the dictator, and the Syrian government
01:36 are still in power.
01:38 A lot of us around the world feel helpless, but want to desperately do something.
