00:00 with something strange in your Twitter feed.
00:03 Who you gonna call?
00:05 Not Twitter, apparently.
00:07 Leslie Jones is one of the cast members of SNL
00:10 and also starring in the new Ghostbusters movie.
00:12 - You guys are really smart about this science stuff,
00:15 but I know New York.
00:16 - And because she's a black woman,
00:18 she is suffering from massive amounts of hate on Twitter.
00:22 Fed up with all of the misogynistic and racist abuse,
00:25 she took to Twitter on Monday
00:27 to retweet some of the more vitriolic stuff
00:30 that she receives.
00:31 People called her extremely ugly,
00:34 mocked up fake tweets from her,
00:36 and compared her to a gorilla, an ape, and an orangutan.
00:40 She also made sure to tweet some commentary along the way.
00:43 Okay, I have been called apes, sent pics of their asses,
00:46 even got a pic with semen on my face.
00:48 I'm trying to figure out what human means.
00:50 I'm out.
00:51 No, don't go, Leslie Jones.
00:54 I feel like I'm in a personal hell.
00:55 I didn't do anything to deserve this.
00:57 It's just too much.
00:58 It shouldn't be like this.
00:59 So hurt right now.
01:01 Thankfully, the vast majority of decent people
01:03 came to her defense.
01:05 Ghostbusters director Paul Feig had this to say,
01:07 "Leslie Jones is one of the greatest people I know.
01:09 "Any personal attacks against her
01:11 "are attacks against us all.
01:12 "#Love4LeslieJ."
01:14 Margaret Cho, "Stand with Les dawg.
01:16 "#Love4LeslieJ.
01:18 "She is an inspiration and a legend in the making."
01:21 Sophia Bush, "You're amazing.
01:22 "What happened to you on Twitter today is awful.
01:24 "We need your light and your fight."
01:26 Thankfully, a representative from Twitter
01:28 has finally issued an official statement
01:31 that they are taking action on many of the accounts
01:34 reported to them by both Leslie and others.
01:37 Took you long enough.
