00:00 We've just received a secret message from space.
00:02 It is Matthew McConaughey from behind a bookshelf.
00:06 Last week NASA posted images from its Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, which looked like
00:10 Morse code.
00:12 The formation on the Martian surface are actually a series of sand dunes.
00:15 Okay sand dunes, now let's get in formation.
00:18 Their shape is due to changing wind directions and other topographical oddities on Mars.
00:22 The camera on board the MRO is part of the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment,
00:27 or HiRISE, and it's the most powerful camera ever to take pictures of the red planet's
00:32 surface.
00:33 Dr. Veronica Bray, who analyzed the image, must really want to be teasing those conspiracy
00:37 theorists.
00:38 She translated the message from Morse code just for fun.
00:41 It says, "Nee-net-ze-bee-six-ten-de-bev-see-bee-bee-see-bee-see-see-bee-bee-spee."
00:51 Word for word.
00:52 Exactly what it says.
00:53 Brandi Johnson said, "The news about the dunes on Mars looking like Morse code is incredible,
00:58 but we can't forget NASA is putting Morse code on Mars every day."
01:01 What?
01:02 Okay.
01:03 Tali Dushain said, "This probably doesn't help those people who thought the Martian
01:06 was based on a true story."
