00:00 Happy International Cat Day!
00:01 And I know what you guys are thinking,
00:03 Shannon, it's the internet.
00:04 Every single day is Cat Day.
00:06 No, you're wrong.
00:07 Every single day is National Cat Day.
00:09 (beep) foreign cats.
00:10 Until today.
00:11 So, happy International Cat Day!
00:14 To commemorate the event,
00:15 Facebook released a research project
00:17 to show the differences between cat people and dog people.
00:20 Basically, they compared users who post photos of their cats
00:23 and users who post photos of their dogs
00:25 and showed what each one was into.
00:27 Now yes, some of the stereotypes
00:29 do have a bit of truth to them.
00:31 Dog people are more social.
00:32 On average, they have 26 more Facebook friends
00:35 than cat people.
00:36 Yes, cat people are more likely to be single,
00:39 though that distinction was gender agnostic,
00:41 somewhat dismissing the idea of the old spinster cat lady.
00:45 But hold on there, team dog.
00:46 Some of the distinctions weren't quite that obvious.
00:49 For example, cat people are more likely
00:51 to be into science fiction and fantasy than dog people.
00:54 Cat people were more likely to read books
00:56 like "The Hobbit" and "The Watchmen,"
00:58 and dog people were more likely to be into love stories
01:01 and spiritual books like "The Notebook" and "Eat, Pray, Love."
01:05 And it's the exact same when it comes to movies.
01:07 Cat people like "Terminator 2,"
01:09 "A Clockwork Orange," and "Coraline,"
01:11 and dog people like "Fifty Shades of Grey,"
01:13 "Pretty Woman," and "The Blind Side."
01:15 What do you cat, dog-loving people have to say about this?
01:18 John Fuglesang says, "It's International Cat Day.
01:21 "Your cat doesn't care."
01:23 Super deluxe, happy International Cat Day
01:25 to that least vocal group of pet owners, cat people.
