Yesterday, the #HeterosexualPrideMonth trended on Twitter. A few people wanted an antidote to LGBT Pride Month throughout June, but most people on Twitter just made fun of it.

00:00 We're here! We're not queer! Not that there's anything wrong with that!
00:03 So get used to it! Even though everybody's already used to it, why the f*ck are we channing again?
00:08 So yesterday was heterosexual pride day, apparently.
00:12 The hashtag trended on Twitter pretty much all day yesterday,
00:15 with proponents arguing that it's the straight antidote to LGBT pride month, which is the entire month of June.
00:20 Fortunately, as most socially oblivious tone-deaf trends go,
00:24 this was mostly about people just making fun of the hashtag on Twitter.
00:28 1k to don't be so mad at those who want to celebrate heterosexual pride day.
00:33 Being heteronormative is awfully sad and boring. They need a parade.
00:36 Yeah, but who do you think would decorate all their floats and organize their parade?
00:40 Jeffrey Wright, heterosexual pride day parade to be held inside a closet.
00:44 And of course, the Grand Marshal himself, George Takei.
00:47 It's heterosexual pride day, a day when straight people can finally come out with fear of losing their jobs, friends, and family.
00:53 But of course, there were the obligatory conservative think pieces about why heterosexual pride day should actually be a thing.
01:02 Katie Freights in the Daily Caller wrote,
01:04 "The end goal of this equality is that nobody's special.
01:06 When people choose to celebrate their sexual orientation, no one cares,
01:09 because all orientations have the same value.
01:12 When people raise a fuss, it reinforces inequality.
01:14 It tells people there is still a negative difference."
01:17 Let's see, how many times did a gunman raid a straight club and shoot people because they were straight?
01:22 How many kids are getting kicked out of their homes for being straight?
01:25 That's what I thought.
01:27 LGBT pride month is not anti-straight people month.
01:30 Just like veterans day is not "f*ck anyone who isn't a veteran day."
01:35 It's just that we've decided that these people deserve a special recognition on this day.
01:39 And so when you ask why there isn't a heterosexual pride month,
01:43 you're basically that spoiled kid at the birthday party who is jealous of the birthday boy and/or girl
01:49 who is getting all the attention and it isn't on them.
01:52 But I think LZ Granderson put it the best when he said this,
01:55 "Gay pride was not born out of a need to celebrate being gay,
01:59 but instead our right to exist without prosecution."
02:02 So maybe instead of wondering why there isn't a straight pride month or movement,
02:06 straight people should be thankful they don't need one.
02:08 By the way, this isn't the first time that people have tried to start a heterosexual pride movement.
02:12 As a matter of fact, July is supposed to be heterosexual awareness month,
02:16 even though everybody is already aware that they exist.
02:18 So if you're gonna be problematic and a petulant child,
02:21 can you at least like figure out which day or which month you guys want?
02:26 I want Christmas.
