00:19 At the Sectoral Meeting of the President with the DICT yesterday,
00:22 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. himself said that the problem should be solved
00:27 because even he is getting impatient with the long process of the physical or plastic card of the national ID.
00:33 Because of this, the DICT will issue a digital national ID.
00:37 It means that while the physical national ID is waiting,
00:41 the DICT will work on the digital copy of the national ID.
00:46 There is no ultimatum. We are the ones who basically gave our goal.
00:51 I'm hoping that with the full support of the President and the full support perhaps of our legislators
00:59 to give us all the necessary budget or at least if not 100%, a significant portion of it by year end.
01:07 To make this happen, the DICT asked for access to the information data
01:13 that the Philippine Statistics Authority collected like biometrics.
01:17 They have captured about 80 million identities already and it's in their database.
01:25 So for us to be able to convert it to a digital format,
01:30 we needed access to that database so that we can deploy it on a digital platform.
01:36 According to the DICT, the release of the physical national ID is being accelerated
01:41 and the initial solution is only the digital copy.
01:44 The agency will also ensure that the data is secured for the digital ID.
01:49 All our systems are developed with security in mind.
01:53 So this is what we call in our approach security by design.
01:56 Meaning security is not an afterthought.

02:06 So today, we're using best of breed security systems in order to develop and deploy these apps and these systems.

02:25 According to the DICT, the number of people who have filed a tax scam due to SIM card registration has decreased.
02:31 But according to the DICT, there are still scammers who can buy pre-registered SIMs
02:36 from individuals who are making a profit from the SIM they registered.

02:43 If this SIM card that was registered with them is used in a crime,
02:48 and we caught the perpetrators, they are included in the robbery.
