00:00 were walking down the town as we left our house my partner said to me oh look
00:04 look at that glow in the sky there's you know obviously a big bonfire somewhere
00:08 because it was actually firework night and as we got down the town people came
00:12 running out from their shops and said Carol Carol quick hurry hurry your
00:15 shop's on fire and we just couldn't believe it and by the time we got down
00:19 here there was just a sort of red glow in the sky and then we just watched it
00:22 get worse and worse and worse I mean the fire brigade did everything they could
00:26 and they said they'd never encountered anything like it really apparently the
00:30 temperature in the shop got up to 1200 degrees melted saucepans and cast-iron
00:35 casseroles were ruined I mean the whole stock was just absolutely ruined it was
00:39 devastating absolutely devastating when you get the first phone call you think
00:43 okay it's gonna be like a little you know a bin fire you get up here and you
00:47 see it and your heart sinks you know I mean I had a bit more adrenaline than
00:51 some because I was inside the cordon getting keys you know talking to the
00:55 firemen and the police and bits and pieces so it was very difficult for it
00:59 to go in straight away but then you're sitting there I mean I was here until
01:02 4 in the morning and it was definitely quiet then the crowds had gone you're
01:06 sitting there something you put your heart and soul into and it and it's not
01:10 there anymore you know I came into the building I think it was about 2.30 I had to walk
01:13 around with the firemen's telling me what was safe what wasn't safe eerie
01:17 black dripping and like I say it's you pour your heart and soul into these
01:22 things and when you see it like that you just you think there's no coming back
01:25 I mean financially was catastrophic all our suppliers were extremely good they
01:31 let us order stock because what we did is we transferred the kitchen side down
01:36 to the ironmongers business and our suppliers were brilliant they supplied
01:39 us with all the stock that we needed and had payment you know when when we could
01:44 do it we also opened up we transferred a lot of the china and glass down to our
01:49 linen shop which that worked very well and I mean customers were just
01:54 absolutely wonderful the whole of Tennyton was so supportive they were
01:57 wonderful it makes you realize how wonderful it is to live in this sort of
