00:03 It's impossible to move forward unless you know the past.
00:10 This is history that almost wasn't.
00:14 The Negro Leagues were a chapter of American history that could have disappeared
00:19 if not for Black-owned newspapers across the country.
00:23 They celebrated Black achievement and helped preserve this important history.
00:28 The stories and stats, headlines and heroics of icons and legends,
00:33 leaders and barrier breakers.
00:35 Printed history, posters and flyers excited fans who hoped
00:40 that the stars of the Negro Leagues would barnstorm to their town,
00:44 field or ballpark under the lights.
00:47 And with the help of pioneering Black writers,
00:50 who also faced discrimination and hardship,
00:54 these stories of triumph and conquest, pride and determination never faded.
01:00 A voice for the voiceless pressed in ink.
01:06 This is a celebration that goes beyond baseball.
01:12 These are the legends.
01:14 These are their stories.
01:17 This is MLB The Show 24, the Negro Leagues edition.
