00:05 Yesterday, the House Bill No. 9349 or the "Panukalang Absolute Divorce Act" was discussed in the plenary.

00:19 the "Panukala" is supported by Muslim legislators.
00:22 It is more acceptable to their religion.
00:25 They prefer Union First District Representative Paolo Ortega, who has a stronger annulment system in the country,
00:32 than the divorce bill.
00:34 In the past years, the divorce bill has been repeatedly proposed in Congress.
00:39 But it is only in the law if it can get sufficient support from the House and Senate.
00:48 I think you all know that in the religion of Islam, divorce is acknowledged.
00:54 So on our part, in our side of the plenary, there is no problem.
00:59 So I think as far as the Muslim legislators, we will be supporting the divorce bill.
01:07 I will not vote in favor of the divorce bill.
01:11 I am working on simplifying some provisions of the annulment.
01:19 That is my stand.
01:21 And we are currently consulting with different groups, women's groups.
01:26 And there are ways of simplifying the annulment process.
01:33 A manifesto was passed by 57 congressmen, of which 53 are from Mindanao.
01:42 But to prove it, some of the Mindanao's members are being sent to the Philippines.
01:48 They are now being represented by the North First District Representative,
01:52 Mohamed Khalid Dimaporo.
01:54 The so-called manifesto that is based on the true voices of the people of Mindanao.

02:04 They want Dimaporo to be truly peaceful and well-organized.
02:09 They are united by President Ferdinand Barcos Jr.
02:13 in the continuation of the Philippines' reconciliation and they are determined to separate Mindanao.
02:20 Some places in Mindanao have long gone through trials and tribulations.
02:27 And now that the situation is getting better, I hope that it will not be disturbed by some personalities.
02:34 The call for an independent Mindanao is a step backwards.
02:41 It's like, what happens is, one step forward in terms of progress,
02:45 then you call for an independent Mindanao, two steps backwards.

02:52 And we in the 19th Congress, specifically the Mindanao legislators,
02:57 have organized ourselves to sign a manifesto.
03:02 This manifesto is titled "The Unified Manifesto of Mindanao Congressmen for National Integrity and Development."
03:12 53 out of 60 congressmen have signed this.
03:20 And we are one with our President, that we don't need to move backwards to the time of darkness in the region of Mindanao.
